A Big Thank You Goes out to Chuck Campbell and his wife Shirley for hosting the Great MASGA Jam in Vienna Va this past weekend. The music, food, and fellowship was just super. I know the weekend being Mother's day would put a damper on the number of people attending but it appeared to be a good turnout. I know I enjoyed all the great music by all the players and the back up band couldn't have been any better.
Thank you Chuck for hosting this great event! Looking forward to the Next one!!

Well I certainly wouldn't miss this opportunity to also thank my dear friend Chuck and his lovely and ever hard working bride Miss Shirley. It was because of all of your hard work and devotion to the steel guitar community that actually made me want to have the Mid-Atlantic Steel Guitar Association sponsor this event. What many of you don't know is that not only did Chuck do most of the leg work for the show but he and Shirley also "gave up their home to the band and some others including myself" so that we could be comfortable while they slept outside in their travel coach. Can't get any more devoted than that. Ken Latchum came up with an offer to help out wherever we wanted and I gotta tell you, he was such a great help. He took over the emcee job which freed me up to do much of the other many things that needed done. I appreciate it so very much and give to you a heartfelt "THANK YOU" Ken. By the way folks that great band that you have heard about played for 12 hours straight Saturday with only one little supper break and then came back in and added another five hours to that Sunday. No better back up band can ever be found and boys you know how I feel about each one of you. Although we "accidentally" planned this on mother's day weekend when we realized what we had done it was simply too late to change things so we went ahead...fully expecting a really poor turnout. We were pleasantly surprised and I thank everyone who walked through that door and I sincerely hope that we were able to make this a fun amd memorable time for you. I know, in spite of all the work that went into this show, that I had a great time. John Hughey...what can I say??? You are the greatest, my friend and I appreciate you so very much. We gotta get out and drowned a worm this year...Miss Jean...I love you and I hope you know how many folks really do. Folks this was a great time for all who attended and new friendships were made by many including myself. Again...thanks Chuck and Shirley....Ken Latchum and all of you guys and gals who pitched in.
God Bless and we will see you all next time.

I had posted my thanks on a separate thread but it got buried and this thread seems to be the place to be, so I'll repeat it below, once more with feeling!
p.s. I just have to mention Arnett Mills, whose playing and sound was just superb!Just wanted to say 'thanks' to Chuck Campbell and all the fine folks at MASGA who put on a great steel show this past weekend in Vienna, Virginia. The players were excellent, as was the house band (who did a fine job, even on the 'curve-balls' I threw at them). This was a fun show, professionally run, and well-attended. Thanks for inviting me to be a part of it. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to have Lucky Oceans sit in my set and trade fours; whoo-weee!
Thanks again to all the organizers!
