New 8 string multi neck steels

Post by Louie Warren »

Who makes new 8 string multineck steels? I have a National D8, used to have a Rickenbacker T8, but really hate taking vintage stuff out to play live. Is there a good 8 string manufacturer out there now? I've been out of it for sometime. There's a bunch of pedal steel manufacturers, but not that many, that I know of, non-pedal, and virtually no 8 string steels without custom made costs. I recently saw Cindy Cashdollar with Van Morrison on Austin City Limits and was inspired to use my steels more! Thanx!

Good T-8 = West Coast Steel

Post by Eddie Cunningham »

I recently bought a new T-8 non-pedal steel from "West Coast Steel Guitar" that was real good and decent price. They are on the forum somewhere or can be researched on the web. Looks good and sounds good !! And there are several other good ones available. Eddie "C" P.S. I think Cindy C$$ plays a " Remington Steel " , another nice one available new .

Damn, I thought she was using a Fender Stringmaster T8... Herb's site shows her behind one! Go figure!

To me, Herb's guitars look like what I want. I wish I had never gotten rid of my Rickenbacker T8! Prices are a bit steep, BUT, you get what you pay for! Thanx!

I could have sworn she used an old Stringmaster on the Van Morrison show, but the Remington looks a lot like it. My wife accidently erased it on TiVo, I'll have to see if I can find it again. She does some fine work!

Herb Remington builds great Steel Guitars, no doubt about it!
They sound wonderful - they're reliable, accurate and they stay in tune.

You can call him and talk about it - 713 923-8435

I don't know what George Piburn has on the fire nowadays; But the multi-necks he's made in the past are certainly worthy of looking into. A search of the old No Peddlers archive should bring up a number of good reviews. Here's an older example on George's website:

Billy Gilberts D-8

Post by jim flynn »

I made some parts for this D-8 made by Billy Gilbert,
Canyon Lake ,Tx. He used True-Tone P/U.'s, Tom Bradshaws', fret boards. He wasn't able to post these pics himself and I thought it was a very nice job. He can be contacted at: bgilbert15@hotmail.com.

Hi, Has any one heard Herb Remington's steels with the newer pickups that supposedly sound more like a Fender steel? I visited him last year and can vouch for quality, I just wasn't blown away by the sound of the George L's.

I have one of Herb's 8-string Playboy models, and the quality is impeccable. If I had the funds and time, I'd order one of his multi-neck guitars.

Thanks a lot to Denny Turner for your enduring support.
Substitute "Convinced Fans" for "DT" ! :) :)

All of my instruments are One of a Kinds and are visually stunning.
Allow me to humbly add that their sound is also stunning (imho); As indicated in many reviews and comments on the SGF.

Ricky Davis had every reason in the world to take the greatest pride in his SS Hawaiian Steels; FINE examples of Rick's expertise. Check out Rick's response when he acquired his first Jarge Stick!
