The PSG $ suffers from the “economics of scale” problem.

The PSG $ suffers from the “custom made” problem.

The PSG $ suffers from the “it ain’t taught in school” problem.

The PSG $ suffers from the “It ain’t in the music store” problem.

The PSG $ suffers from the “it’s a country music instrument” problem.

The PSG $ suffers from the “I am not a mechanic” problem.

This is a problem loaded instrument!

If you will allow that Japan is part of the Pacific Rim, then Excel makes what may well be the best PSG for the $.

I use a simple method for judging value. Compare the cost of a quart of milk, a loaf of bread, a gallon of gasoline, a Ford/Chev/Plym then and now vs. the item in question.

Then factor in the paycheck in the area, and the work performed to get it = St Johns Nfd, Halifax NS, Boston Mass, San Diego Ca., vs. “small town” USA…there is a difference between the saw mill and chicken plucking $ and the aircraft/computer company $.

In non USA places factor in the money exchange rates, duty, taxes, etc.

A few years ago, the Canadian $1.40 got $1.00 US = expensive for Chris, Roy Thomson, et al if they wanted new stuff from the USA.

To the extent that the PSG is “hand made” one or two at a time to suit the buyers taste, the price will be high and the waiting time long.

To the extent that the PSG is made with mass produced standard parts, the price can come down, and the waiting time shortened, and you can have any color you want…as long as it is black!

Some of today's "student models" are better than some of yesterdays "pro models"...an opinion.
