Donna Hammitt - ISGC on YouTube

Post by Bill Ferguson »

Here is a clip from the 1991 International Steel Guitar Convention.

Donna was and is a "Super Picker" as you will see in this clip.

Approved to air by Donna Hammitt and Scotty.

Let me know if you like this. I only have a few more steelers to upload from the ISGC. Then I have quite a few approved to air from the Knoxville show.

Bill

Oh yes, I remembered to make this a "PUBLIC" video :lol:

Excellent Bill!! Like I said in an earlier post last week, you are truly a great asset to the steel guitar community. We all appreciate the effort and time that you have dedicated to these videos, and we also have to thank Scotty for letting you post these great videos. This is one of those great ones! Neal Yeagley

Talk about a "guy magnet"! What is that je ne sais quoi about women who do what men tend not to expect!

Great stuff, but I can't identify the second song in the medley. Who can help?

#2 sounds like "Sweet Dreams" to me but the next one puzzles me.

Songs

Songs are"
Walking After Midnight
Sweet Dreams
I Fall To Pieces
Crazy.

I stand corrected as I left out one of the songs. Guess I should have listened again before opening my typewriter.

OK, Bill, here I am, my a-- in a sling:

As you were there and I wasn't, please don't read this as challenge. That said:

1. Walkin' after Midnight;
2. Unrecognized melody;
3. "I Fall to Pieces";
4. "Crazy"

I'll take your corrections, and thanks!

Regards!

:lol: Bill: Glad I didn't miss this posting; Where did you find this little beauty; Have never heard of her before now; And she is a beautiful Steel Guitarist; Wow, what a fantastic job she did on this medley; And the "Franklin" certainly did justice to Donna's excellent talent.. Whom would not want to hear her play again? I'm surprised that we haven't seen her; Has she performed with any of the big names in C/W Music? Thanks to Donna and you, Bill, for sharing her talents with we forumites.. Bernie :wink:

Bernie, I believe that she used to play with Whispering Bill Anderson, and she majored in music in college. I think that her dad was a steel guitarist also. You can look at her bio at her web-site, www.donnahammitt.com. It would be exciting to have a grandaughter like her.

Charles, you are correct.
Donna is now married and settled down in Nashville, not playing professionally any longer.

What a great talent and great person.

Oh yes, her dad, Don Hammitt, is also a great player and the nicest person you could ever meet.
