Ya know what I mean.
Warm harmonies, heartfelt lead vocals,
steel, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, piano, bass and drums.
That crossover from bluegrass gospel to electric country gospel.
Small country church picnic, not Tabernacle choir.
I am looking for 2-3 'must have' cd's in this style for Chacha.
If it has a forumite on it, and is in the forum catalog, even better.
Otherwise tell me a paypal site I can get it from.
The last 3 mornings she has put on the
Austin Lounge Lizzards's Paint Me On Velvet,
which fits the style, if not really being on the mark for content.
I am sure there will be quite a few suggestions.

Sounds about right,

I am no expert in Gospel music but would respectfully suggest Justin Tevino's recent Gospel album "Before You say Amen". You can buy if from www.justintrevino.com
As well as Justins heartfelt vocals which never disappoint,the CD features the current Texas A-team " of musicians including Bobby Flores on fiddle & my personal favourite,Dickey Overbey doing his usual magic on steel. This CD will not disappoint if you are looking for traditional country gospel. |

| I would highly recommend anything from the "Original Hinsons" and the "Happy Goodman Family". Both groups had great harmonies and good music. What separated them was the Hinsons did much more writing and had more hit songs. Rusty Goodman gave the Goodmans a big shot in the arm when he started singing with the family. I would recommend a Christian Country artist in Mike Manuel. Look for the "Manuel Family Band" projects and some just with Mike's name on the projects. I played steel with the Manuel Family Band but I just loved the Hinson's style of country. |

Justin has a gospel album... SOLD!!!
The Happy Goodman Family I had heard of,
but not the Hinsons.
These 3 and the Gatlins sounds like a nice compilation.
Plus one forumite kindly offered his album,
of which I will be most grateful too.
When I played bluegrass in NYC,
we always did at least 1 gospel number
to end the evening. Leaving people in a nice state,
to go into the NYC night.

Its about a year old, Buddy Emmons is
all over it. Its about my favorite CD that
I'm "stealin" licks from right now.

| Donald.......you mentioned some Bluegrass crossover and for that style , absolutely no on can touch the Isaacs. Look for a C D called Heroes and another called Radio Favorites. Since they are Jewish, they call their music Jewgrass. Awesome vocals and instrumentation. |

I can second the Gene Watson cd. One of my favorites on it is called "Looking for a City", a very beautiful steel part on it. But the whole album is great.

perfect for Chacha to sing along with,
as long as I am in the studio... 50 feet away...
And an advance copy of a certain forumite's upcoming release,
which I am quite looking forward to hear.

Well some nice cd's arrived.
The Issacs were known to Chacha, she likes this
more modern cd a lot already.
They sang in Singapore at some of her missionary cousins
church there. Great reviews from them too.
One of the wives was VERY pregnant at the time,
and amazed them that she could sing like that all night long.
The Happy Goodman family greatest hits is classic old school style,
and wonderfully done. No clue who played some very nice steel on this collection.
The Gatlins... WOW!, What great singing on this album.
And Big E on board too with The Blade.
Classic songs done in original arrangments and great recording
Haven't heard Gene Watson yet.
I guess it goes on during lunch now.
Mr. Emmons is on 2 of the cd's, so no doubt fine steel work.

| David, A trio from the '70's i would like to reccommend are the Singin Rambos . I have several of their albums from that time frame and they have some of the closest harmony for country Gospel that i've ever heard.I believe Robby Turner did some of the steel on the albums i have. Very good music . |

Been listening to Gene Watson the last 2 mornings.
Beautiful album too.
Big E is so smooth on this.
In one song he really made me think Dicky Overby!
Who came first the chicken or the egg.
Who cares.
It's a compliment to them both.
Really wonderful playing. Buddy's touch is
all over this album, and rightly so.
The Issacs Heros is getting the most play,
Mr. Ickes plays some lovely dobro too.
But great songs and singing.

| I always thought that Roy Acuff had the best voice for the Southern Baptist gospel music ! From the Grand Ole Opry of the early & mid 40s and into the 50s. His voice and style from the heart were made for Country Gospel. He still has a lot of good music available . |
