"Farewell Party" Lloyd Green ISGC 1992

Post by Bill Ferguson »

This is a clip from the 1992 International Steel Guitar Convention featuring "Mr Nashville Sound" Lloyd Green.

Lloyd has graciously approved me posting a video of his playing at the convention.

I thought it only appropriate that I post the song we all think of when we think of Lloyd, Farewell Party. The great Gene Watson classic country song.

Also thanks to Scotty for allowing me to post some video from the archives of the convention.

Super nice stuff! No sour notes there for sure! This has become my favorite section of the forum since I can get to see rather than just hear all my heros play.
I notice that even Lloyd has trouble to keep his fingerpicks tight..looks like he takes every opportunity to reseat them with his thumb.

I would love to have the tab for this exactly as Lloyd did it here. I wonder if Doug J. could squeeze this in his schedule? Thank you Lloyd for everything; IMO, and probably a lot of others, "The King Of The E9th".

That is fantastic. Why does he say at the beginning that it is only fitting that he play Farewell Party?

Billy, As I remember (this was 14 years ago), it was Lloyd's last song on the show and he knew everyone would probably want to hear Farewell Party. So that is what he was saying.

I also just got an email from Lloyd saying how pleased he was with the quality of the video and audio. That makes ME happy.

Isn't that the most beautiful thing you have ever heard. Mr. Nashville is right, there will never be another. Just goes to prove you don't need a bucket full of pedals and knee levers.
Thanks Bill.

Hey Bill,
You just keep knocking "them out of the ball park" with these precious time capsuls from the "Greats ". And to think that at one time, Lloyd quit playing Steel to sell shoes !! Phillip.

All you steelers out there, I am having a blast digging into the archives. I had actually forgotten how good this stuff was.

Lloyd told me he is ready for more so all of you just be patient, it is a slow process but well worth it.

I have contacted about 15 other players and will get at least one of each up soon before repeating players.

Now, Thank You Scotty for allowing this and Thank You "Al Gore"(hehe) for inventing the internet. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill, again, all of us really appreciate your hard work! Image Would be great to look over your shoulder while you are browsing through the material! Image

Your initiative should be nominated for "Steel Guitar Initiative of the Year", maybe we should introduce such a category on this forum!

Thanks Again!!!!
