I'm playing tonight at The Living Room with Max Greene .
We go on at 8:00 upstairs. The legendary Tony Mason is playing drums along with the force of nature Tim Luntzel on bass. I will get to do plenty of playing on this one.

Jim,Manhattan only.
I'm playing a western swing gig tonight in Brooklyn at the best bar in the universe: Sunny's over in Red Hook. It is a truly great scene.
Get in touch.
Btw: Manhattan is turning into a playground for rich tourists and trustafarians. Skip that BS and check out the real deal in Brooklyn !

Don't worry guys, my mysanthropy is not bound by bridges and tunnels !
Brooklyn will suck soon also. The pilates wives of Park Slope with there hum-vee strollers are making there way down the hill into my neighborhood at a frightening pace. Its horrible. They are closing in and there is nothing that can stop them. There is already a yoga for kids store front as far west as Court st and as far south as Atlantic.
They send out those trendy anorexic guys with $200 goofy looking hairdos as spys. I saw 5 of those fellas at my beloved local bar just last week. They seem harmless enough until they try to pay for there PBRs with a credit card !

Jim, the Mercury Lounge gig should be a cool one. Hula goes on at 10:30. If you want to see what young talented steel players are doing in the real world of bands absolutely check them out.

If you want to make a classic local yocal scene head out to Sunny's. I'll be bowling for notes on my Stringmaster. Its one of those gigs where the bass player needs to scoot over if anybody want to hit the can.

Update ! There is now a yoga for kids place as far west as Columbia st.
Just today there was a major incursion of pilates wives from cobble hill in the little park on the water where I take my dog to play. They where checking out the park with a bunch of very well dressed 4 year old petchulant screaming monsters and a hired soccer coach. They kept repeating the statement "you are so lucky to live in such a nice place". I wish I was kidding !
We are all doomed....
BTW: Jim, What gigs did you check out ?

Thanks for a very active, interesting thread. Unfortunately, as it turned out, I wasn't able to hit any of these (or other) gigs as my day-job ended up running later than expected both nights and I was too wiped to head to any of these locales. Oh well, maybe next time. But thanks for letting me know the options.
