Reece,
Your eloquent acceptance speech was very inspirational. It was an honor to witness your induction into the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame and to have an opportunity to visit with you after having become a fan of your playing some 50 years ago in Dallas.

My congratulations too, Maurice. It was about 25 years overdue. It is always great to see you perform too. It was nice that your family could all be there too. I was really touched by the whole ceremony.
In the same vein, I have never dealt with a nicer bunch of guys than the MSA group. Maurice, Kyle, Dave, Jerry, and Johnny are putting out a great product.

Congratulations Reece on your induction into the Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame. As you can see on here, your best wishes are "Universal"

Yes, congratulations, Reece. You now have complete validation of your "universal" appeal. You have been a real inspiration to me. And I'm looking forward to getting my first MSA soon, as soon as David Wright finishes saying goodbye to it - an S12U, naturally. ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/smile.gif) |

Reese, congratulations. Your inclusion in the Hall of Fame is welcome, from so many viewpoints.
Your history as a performer, your contributions to the development of the instrument both mechanically and musically, the precision, depth and boundryless nature of your musicianship and technique... and as if that's not enough, your eagerness to teach what you know, and the generosity of spirit you bring to the "sport" ... any one of these would be remarkable and laudable. But all together they are astounding, and you are very deserving of this recognition.
Again congratulations.

Congratulations Reece. I know how much this means to you.
For the record, I think your "Universal Direction" gospel album is the greatest pedal steel guitar recording ever made, and I say this as somebody who is not a Christian, on whom the religious aspect of the album is lost.
I think that album alone qualifies you for this honor, even if you never did anything else. [This message was edited by Mike Perlowin on 06 September 2006 at 05:49 AM.] |
