I'd love to hear his playing. I wonder if there are any recordings of Ray out there? He probably did more strumming than picking. Maybe he did some picking too. His toes must have been pretty strong!
[This message was edited by Doug Beaumier on 05 May 2006 at 05:18 PM.]

In regards to “Floyd” (_?_), I can't remember his last name, although I knew him personally, here in Nashville. Shot Jackson built him a ‘slightly~custom’ S-10 Red Sho-Bud, in that the P/U was mounted close to the end of the Fretboard, rather than the Bridge, because; he held the Tone~Bar and also had his picks on the fingers of his Left-Hand. It was positioned there for proper tone. I knew Floyd peresonally because I had a special Tone-Bar made for him to which I attached a leather-mute for the strings, behind the bar! The other point I wanted to make was the fact that besides playing PSG very well, in his regular day~job capacity; he was a TV Repairman!

This "Floyd" sounds like the gentleman I remember seeing on channel 15 in Florence Alabama several years ago. He was playing steel with some group. The person I'm thinking about also played a red Sho~Bud, and only had the use of one hand. As I remember, he was pretty good. The TV program was a telethon, and I also played steel for a group that appeared on it. I was just in the VERY early stages of learning the steel guitar, and I know this gentleman certainly sounded much better than I did that day!!

It was his Right~Arm that was missing. I still can't remember his last-name! The last time I saw him was in 1982 in downtown Nashville.
