Today I reached another milestone, 72 years of life and 60 years of playing a steel guitar. I still get to play 3 days a week, plus all the time I want at home, since my wife of 51 years loves my playing. I really have the best of two worlds and count my blessings everyday.
I must also say thank you for this wonderful web site. I view it every day and always find something much more intersting than the front page of my newspaper. Best to eveyone and keep "pickin and grining" as the old saying goes.

Happy Birthday!
That wife of yours sounds like a keeper!
Whenever I play steel my wife tells me to stop stepping on the cats tail. (insert rimshot!)
Regards,
Joe

Robert, congrats on the milestone. Sometimes I wonder how long my desire to play music in general will last. I still love playing steel and the 6 string so perhaps your milestone is someting for me to use as a guidline or at least think about.

I just hope there will be places to play for the next 30 years and country music will still have some traditional sound to it. I hope smoking in bars becomes a thing of the past so my lungs and health will hold out too.

But thanks again for sharing your milestone today.

Congrats... Our lifes travel seem to be parallel. I'll be 75 in July. started playing steel when I was 14. Married to the same kind of wife of 55 years. She does not play just my number 1 critic. Pedal steel got to heavy about 7 years ago and went to dobro. Life is wonderful when you have the right soul mate., especially one who incourages you to pick after all these years. The best to you and yours. Lee

Happy birthday, and congratulations on finding such a wonderful wife. I also have one that supports my music addiction. And Al, that's wonderful. Sure hope to hear you play some day.
