I assume he's speaking rhetorically here, but I'd have to say there are a few very creative, musical players out there who have no idea what "Crazy Arms" is all about, or could "give you an intro" to many classic country songs- yet contribute great musicallity to the productions they're involved with.<SMALL>have you seen a young 20 year old kid player who played such a blazingly fast array of notes that you couldn’t believe, only to find out he couldn’t give you an intro to Crazy Arms. I would not call him a musician regardless of how dazzling he executed his amazing array of notes.</SMALL>
Is it possible to define "musicianship on steel guitar" without the confines of the country genre? I got a real kick out of the humor post on "rules for steel guitar".
I wonder if Coltrane ever threw down on "Yakety Sax"...
