Replaced the Ducati 996 with one of these. Just as fast and even more fun.

I`m siting here at the computer desk and looking thru my window at the beautiful sunny day.I think I`m going to take my Kawa out for a spin and take a chanse.
btw.
WARNING TO ALL IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW BIKE
DO NOT buy a new bike...I bought a brand new ZZR 1200 couple months ago,it was $12.000 bike, went yesterday to Sloans for a service and looking at the possibility to trade for a touring bike. Was offered $7.500 for my Kawa.So to get a new Concourse that is priced at $8.500 they asked me to put $1.600 cash on the top of my trade. So I`m giving $12.000 bike + $1.600 cash for a $8.500 bike???They showed me a Blue Book value for my bike..trade in value $5.000 and some change??? $5.000 for a $12.000 bike with 1057 miles???Thats crazy...so my advice would be DO NOT buy a new bike, you will lose your a$$ of, go to the Ebay and get a used 1-2 years old bike for 50% of the price.
If I had traded for a $8.500 Concours (wich is a great machine) and decide to take it back in a month or two what would I get for it???$2500 ???Be careful when buying a new bikes.

Well I guess I am returned to being a biker.
Been riding a Honda Steed for the last 2 months as the only mode of transport on the island.
400cc 30hhp cruser style.
The thing is darned comfortable for lower back and dodgy neck disc,
carries 2 Thai ladies on the back in comfort,
and has enough heft and speed to get out of the way, or pull away, from minvans
trying to pass on blind corners at 40 mph.... Beyond the pale believe me.
No need for much more here.
But I like the heft in case, god forbid, some dimwit does something beyond stupid in front of me on a moped...
Koh Samui IS the motorcycle accident capital of ther world.
The budhist, living in the moment, driving style is incomprehensible for most westerners.
But a car is not terribly practical with the traffic,
so I am on a bike and having a good time putting about.

In comparison I am a light weight...
I have seen :
A father riding a 125cc moped
on the tank between his legs is an under 2 year old
behind dad the 5 year old
behind him the mother, pregant and carrying the 1 year old in her arm
behind her sitting backwards is the 3-4 year old....
Dad is driving one handed and smoking.....
~THEY PASSED ME!
in traffic..
I am just a light weight down here
Even with Tip and Tuk Ta on the back, going up the mountian house hunting.

LOL, D.W., you crack me up!
No one has called me Light Weight in a LONG time... BUT
I just lost 14 kilos in the last 2 months!! June 5 to Aug 5.
That's around 30 lbs for you non metric types.
I eat much better in Thailand, good food, and less things bad for me.
Feeling much better, but still like the big bike more.
Yeah there are NEVER too many ladies!
That's just one of the reasons I took this long term gig down here.
Can't wait for my Pro-II to get shipped down.
Then I need a side car....
An English friend down here has a bike shop and I can rent what ever I like.
Last month I had the Steed mostly, comfort, enough power, and a cool look,
but also a CB400 cafe racer with extra valves that open up after 6500 ot 7K, a real crotch rocket,
I loved it except for the neck angle.
And a Transalp 400 trials type bike. I liked it but it was way too tall for my legs.
A day on a Phantom which is a great ladies bike, very smooth and predictable, but too slow for me. This was a mantainance day replacement.
There is a serious 1300cc Honda, basicaly right of the race track, that I have been meaning to take for a day or two, but only when it hasn't rained in a while, too much sand after rains here.
