This Tuesday (Tonight) I'll be playing my Telecaster with our regular Guys, "Jim Snider and the Cain't Hardley Playboys" at the Finish line, with Buddie Hrabal on Steel, and Of course Jim Snider fronting the band and playing Bass, Danny Adams on Drums, & Dale Morris Jr. on Fiddle,
Fri. and Sat night I'm takin' the Tele to work with "The Jimmy Hiliard Band" in Bridgeport, Tx. (can't remember the name of the club, but I bet there's only one.)
and Sunday I'm working with about four bands at the Kowboys for Kids Benifit at the Longhorn Saloon in North Ft. Worth. Including: The Cain't hardley Playboys, Kelly Spinks, Carl Vaughan, and somebody else asked me, but I can't remember who...I'm sure I'll remember when I see them. Old age is HELL.....I'm just having a SENIOR MOMENT, but so far it's lasted about TWO YEARS! Come out if you can, I'd love to meet you (again?)

To Les Gilliam:
I see that you are scheduled to play the western-swing "Cowboy Christmas Ball" in Yukon, Oklahoma, this Friday. Who is playing steel in your band? I have a dinner to attend, but will try to stop by later in the evening.

This afternoon, I played one of the most rewarding gigs that I have ever played. It was a get-together for all the patients, and workers at a Senior Services daycare facility for victims of alzheimer's and like deseases. Our drummer's wife works there, and has been telling us about it for a while.
Got to play loads of Good Country Music, as well as some Gospel, and a few Christmas songs.I don't think that I have ever been as well received, or had more fun than that.
If any of you guys get a chance to play for such a group, I would highly recommend doing it.No pay, but the other rewards were priceless.

This Tuesday again I'll be pickin' with "Jim Snider, and The Cain't Hardley playboys" at the FINISH LINE (7 PM TO 11 PM.) I had a gig booked for Saturday night, with Carl Vaughan but he called and said it was cancelled because the club didn't get the propper licences to open yet.
I'm hosting a team roping jackpot at my arena Friday Night, and turned down a gig in Whichita Falls Texas with the "Joe Paul Nichols Show" (I already had spent time and money advertising the roping) but we've been getting MORE RAIN this week, and I may not be able to have the roping. In this business, I might get a phone call or a cloud and it will all be changed in a heartbeat. By this time next week I could have worked three nights!
Yesterday a bunch of us played ALL DAY at the Longhorn Saloon on Exchange Ave. in the Stockyards in North Ft. Worth. We were raising money for the "KOWBOYS FOR KIDS". It is a great chance to give back to the comunity that supports LIVE REAL COUNTRY MUSIC. There were some good singers, some famous local singers, songwriters, and not to be left out, some great SIDEMEN! There were some great Steel Players there: Buddie Hrable, and Albert Talley didn't get to play because the DRUMMER that was supposed to bring his Kit this year dropped the ball. By the time some VERY nice man gave up his Sunday at his Home, and brought his Kit out, set it up and played, and let some other good drumers, (and a couple of Crashers, and Bangers) set in, Buddie, and Albert, Two Great Steel players had to leave because they had made other plans for when their time was up. They STILL came and set up, and DIDN'T GET TO PLAY'
The Steel players that did get to pick were, Ron Stafford, (who just happens to be an excelent guitarist too!) and Robert (?)(who also plays a darn good fiddle!) He plays for Janie Frickie. Billy McCoy (Played his butt off) plays Guitar for Jim stoval, (who gave his time, and Talent too) Robert Weeks (Fiddle for Jody Nix) played Twin fiddles with Kelly Spinx. Jim Snider took a big tour of duty on the Bass Guitar, and Mark Abbot brought his 'Dog House" bass. Strong pickers! I sat there most of the day and plunked around on My Telecaster, and there were a lot of different folks that we backed up. Of course as these things go, some were more DIFFERENT than others.
Jerry Max Lane got up and did a great job as usual. Frankie Miller, and Jim Eaves were there, and some pretty girl sang 'Crazy" (in B flat) and did a GOOD job! Will Taylor sang a couple and knocked 'em dead. There were a couple of other bands that I was never sure who they were, but a good time was had by almost all. There were a few NAME folks who got billing on the "Scheduled To Appear" list that didn't make it. I figger, it's a way to try to get more folks in the door, and if they don't show, "They were scheduled to appear" We had a LARGE crowd, and I'll be there next time they ask for my help. I don't need my name on the list.

We'll be doing annual Christmas party for the folks in a Retirement apartment complex on
Saturday the 11th. It's about the only thing I've done all year and I'm looking forward to it.
It's a daytime thing from 11AM to about 5 PM and it's nice to get home early.
We old musicians don't fade away, we just decompose.
