how many remember the program after Earnest Tubb record shop?Man,thats telling my age!i use to lay in the floor on sat.nights and listen to all that stuff!some of the best steel picking i've ever heard.Sure miss all that great stuff.can't even WSM on radio down here in Fl. anymore. They did a cut of Lloyd Green one time SALLY G.only time i ever hear it.i tryed ever where to find.also Cal Smith one night on E.T.record shop,EARNEST told him to do his new song, and cal bought had a fit.The Lord knows i'm drinking.they had a preacher on there. The fiddle and steel both messed it up bad!I never laughed so hard. Those were the days i wish for again so bad. farris

Wouldn't it be great if whoever owns the rights to those old SBSC programs released them on CD? Anyone know who that might be?

Jack Boles was the host. He told me one time that he gave some of the tapes to the artists he interviewed. I have a Lloyd Green show on an 8 track!

Farris! I started with Gretsch in Jan 75 as Sho-Bud Product Mgr, on my first trip to Nashville in that capacity, I was interviewed by Jack Bowles on Sho-Bud Showcase & he played Lloyds "Sally G" on that show & asked me what I would like to hear, & I requested Frenchie Burkes "Big Mamoo"sp? with a young 15 yr old steel Player*, that tore up the fast ride! & I believe he was playing a Sho-Bud, Somewhere I have a tape of that show, but its hiding from me at the time! Yes! Very Special Days in my life! Regards! Al Udeen PS was his name *Robbie Springfield anyone?

Farris. I remember the Ol' Sho-Bud Show Case show very clearly. I did the show twice, once by myself, and once with Jimmie Crawford. If I remember, this would have been back in the early 70's? Wish I could find some of the old recordings of that show. I remember seeing some of the tapes of the show upstairs one time at the Sho-Bud store on Broadway many years ago, but I don't know what ever happened to them?

I played the showcase once, there were bands from Austrailia and Europe that evening at the Opry. I remember when it was at the ET record shop, but that year it was at the Opry I believe. Oh yeah, big Jack and the boys, "Here Boys!"

That same year, Roy Clark was given a Gretsch and he used it good. Also on the show was Ray Price with none other that mister Night Life himself, Lloyd G. on steel. He made a issue of Lloyd playing Night Life on E9 and I was astonished at what he did, he's the man. Do you remember that night Al? About '75 or so?

Roger! I remember just about everything from day one, but some how I missed that show! must have had a later gig than usual, or could have been bad enough weather to pick up WSM from Southern Mn. where I played every weekend in those days! Sorry I missed you at Dube's, maybe next year! Al Udeen

I used to listen to the "Sho-Bud Showcase " in my tree house every week, 13 years old at the time, it came in better at the higher altitude .
JR

I would also buy every copy of that show!

I remember Jack Boles saying " DOC, IF SHE'S NOT SHO-BUD, YOU CAN PUT IT RIGHT BACK IN THE TRUNK OF THAT CAR, DO YOU HEAR ME!?" Been there and done that, and it was good. Ron

Farris, if you know Jack Boles, he had that big booming voice, and he didn't mind saying what he thought,..now-a-days, you have to watch what you think(to quote Bro. Dave Gardner) I see Jack ever once in a while, he seems to be doing well...still got that big voice and he loves humor and funny things and funny sayings and always has a good word. Ron
