I picked up Randy's new CD called "A Few Of My Favorite Things" at the NTSGA Superjam saturday in Donelson,TN. I enjoyed seeing and visiting with friends and there were several players who turned in very fine performances. On the way home i listened to Randy's new CD and listened to it again today. It is absolutely the best CD i've heard in quite some time. This CD has so many things.....first....choice of material,beautiful chord voicings along with tasty single note phrasing,flawless execution,creativity,great tone and SOUL! Randy and i don't really know each other that well but it doesn't take long when talking to him to figure out he's a class act! I highly recommend this record....it's very impressive and inspirational. Bravo Randy!

I've been hearing great things about the "A Few Of My Favorite Things" CD. How much if it is performed on E9?

Drew, all but one song on this CD is played on E9th. I've had it for a few months now, and it is "one of my favorite things". I can't remember when I've enjoyed an album as much as this one. It is in the top three of my favorites. The others being, Tom Brumley's "IN Time", and Lloyd Green's "Revisited".

I ran into Randy at Summer Namm and he is a
genuine nice guy. He saw my ShoBud shirt and
struck up a conversation. I saw him play in
St.Louis and his playing was wonderful. I have to get the CD. Good guys can finish first.

Randy is a great player, I watched
him play at NTSGA and his E9th sounds
like the C6th. Its amazing how he does
this. Randy & Russ make a great team.

It's one of my favorite CDs too. I've played it over and over. It's on the stereo now.

This is my favorite CD. Randy does a bang up job. Its real fun to sit down with his sound tract and try to figger out, "how does he do that"? Randy is truely a class act and my favorite steel player.

I was listeing to it several times yesterday. and thinking of starting this post.

Randy has hit a great shot off the tee,
and right on to the musical fairway for sure.

Body and Soul is just dreamy,
6 to 9 very hip yet light,
Lean On It grabs you right out of the ruff,
The gospel tunes are heart felt
And a couple of classic pop chestnuts to make Chalker smile.

Oh yeah ...
CRY... ooh Laney, Laney, Laney.. how did he GET you on this song.,.. lucky boy!
He must be doing something right.

A very well programmed mix for the steel fan market,
but clearly all tunes Randy really likes.
And most anyone else.

But above all else.
It is music, played on steel guitar specifically, but MUSIC 1st!
Not just technical whiz for steel fans, but real music.

And don't forget his earlier CD, Still, a Way Without Words, which is worth it for his arrangement of Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring alone.

OK, Buck! The question I have is...when is YOUR cd gonna be available? The stuff you played for me at Jimmy Crawford's house was killer and I said I'd be the first in line when it came out......well...I'm still standing here!!!

I've been knowing Randy Beavers since 1989 when I sat in his spot on stage after he quit Larry Boone. I loved his playing then and I love his playing now. I can't wait to get a copy of his new CD. Congrats Randy, looks like you've got a real winner here! Can't wait to hear it.

Many, many thanks. I am flattered by your comments and show of support. This was a heart felt project for me, and the fact that many of you are enjoying it makes it even more special. I'm truly grateful, and feel blessed.

I too am looking forward to a new CD by Buck, which I understand is in the works.

I too am enjoying RBs great project. I listen to it more than anything currently in my stack.
