I played guitar and steel with Randy in the late '70's to about '81 and filled in with them now and then in the 80's-90's. They're a good band and a great bunch of people. | Jerry, I met Buzz when I living and picking in Vegas around 80. You're right. He is a monster picker and a fun guy to be around. I have fond memories of Buzz and the late Dick Miller. |

| Ted, have we ever met? I played with Randy Anderson in Vegas and Laughlin in '81, then Hired Hands in late '81-84, then a bunch of different bands all over town after that. Like you, fond memories of Dick Miller coming into the Cowboy Club and sitting in with us around '82, Buzz Evans was playing at the Silver Dollar back then, remember? | Jim, it's been some time. I worked with Don Holliman at the Silver Dollar when I first moved to Vegas in 80. A few months after that, "Urban Cowboy" hit the theaters and the strip wanted a good country band. Don hit the casinos like 'Frontier', the 'Aladan' etc. Buzz's band took our shift at the Silver Dollar. I stayed in Vegas until Dec 81 and moved to Tx to do a house band gig at the 'New West' club in Arlington. I lived about 2 miles from Dick Miller's apartment and he used to call me when he made a fresh batch of lasagna. He was a great cook! I do miss him. |

Ah, that's why I don't remember you, you went to the strip just about the same time I started at the Cowboy Club 5 nights a week, it's hard to go hear anyone else when you're playing all week, and then you left just about the time I was getting going. I remember Don Holliman very well but I think you were already gone by the time I met him. I don't remember now who was playing with him.
Brings back good memories though, I played guitar with Dick on a few casuals around town & went to his farewell pool-party, before he left town for New York, wasn't it? Lost track of him after that, then started reading about his steel-building here on the forum. I sent an email to him and got a reply, next thing I knew he was gone.
OK, back on topic...Buzz Evans.....He was already playing at the Dollar first time I heard him and met him, so guess you were already gone. He was playing his old Sho-Bud and his little Les Paul Special "little brown t*rd" and of course sounding great.
Remember "Crispy Critter"? Good old days in Vegas.
Tell Buzz hello for me whenever you guys get to see him. |

| I had lunch with Buzz several years ago at Denny's across the street from the Texas Steel Show. Great guy. We talked about getting something like a slide whistle into a rubber chicken and powering it with a bike tire pump, holding it down sitting on the edge of the stage with your leg and streching its neck to get different notes. Could be a new instrument. I wonder if he ever followed up on that idea. I can't find a slide whistle that is small enough to fit comfortably in a chicken. Must be another way...Buzz where are you!! |

I first met Buzz waaay back in the ’50's when he worked in the Phila., Pa.,Camden, N.J. area. He was already an accomplished Steel and Lead player back then. I haven't seen him again since we bumped into each other walking down Broadway in Nashville, in the mid to late ’70's.
