IF I could play this dang cadmium plated tinker toy I would have ONLY one choice.

Connie Smith

Since I can't play it, I am not worthy to call her precious name in the realm of music,

My choice shown below........it's good as it is, but I would give anything to play steel backup with this guy because my style would go well with his style. (Stay with it to the end because it gets better the longer it plays!)

Mr.Dixon:
I surely do agree on your choice,Always one of my favorites. I was priveledged to back up George Morgan and I'll never forget that.
The greatest song he did that night was " Tiny Ribbons" just him and a big old flat top guitar, had half the crowd wiping their eyes..

Gene: was that Jody Carver or Roy Ayers singing that Noel ?

Somebody told me all you need is somebody who sings like Ray Price to do the turnarounds, then sit down and shut up.....

Seriously, I've got to go with Aretha Franklin...

Actually, the one playing job I would take if it became open would be with Barbara Fairchild. I think she is a great person, plays venues I could play and is a wonderful entertainer. I would love to play behind her. I have had this notion for several years. Gene, I didn't have any idea you could sing that high! Did you release that or are you just a closet singer? Image

REBA,REBA,& REBA...
I've heard that she is very hard to work for, But, I think I could handle that. Now, this is from "hearsay" only, so, I'm not sure this is true. I,m sure that someone would know her much better than I. I have had the Honor of meeting her and geting a photo of us together at the "Salt Palace" in Salt Lake City in 1988, and she was so kind to me. I have read her book, and she DOES show signs of being able to kick some A%$#,.. Image but, I would still love to play for her. As for the "Male Gender", I would love to play for Gene Watson. Love his style and his Keyboard players' style. Cool "Vamping" Image

I gotta say the guy in Burnt Toast with you REALLY can sing the blues right!
Not quite Big Joe or Ma, but not far.

Gene your singer is quite a... "stylist".
He puts his heart, soul and clavicle in it.
[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 31 October 2003 at 04:29 AM.]

Delbert McClinton

I love playing the blues on my 6 string, and he plays enough country that I could use the steel also.
Man I'd love that!

I'm lucky enough to be in a band with two of my favorite singers, Eric and Alan Brace... and our guitar-slinger Bill Williams is no slouch either...

but for a "fantasy baseball" kind of gig?

First, on lead vocal Don Rich, and on Harmony vocals, Don Rich. (and Doyle Holly)
then either Elvis Costello or Free-era Paul Rogers.

Distaff: Julie London circa 1954 (oooooh BABY!); Connie Smith any year, and Lorrety Lynn 1965
[This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 31 October 2003 at 07:05 AM.]
