WTB Mike Bagwells performance at Saluda

Post by Skip Mertz »

Of all the times I couldnt make it to Saluda
Mike shows up and decides to play instead of just watching. If anyone has a clear copy of his tearin' the place up, I would gladly trade you a copy of any audio or video from my massive collection. Thanks Skip

Buster , I want an audio , I know they dont allow video anymore. Thank goodness I was able to get a couple yrs worth of video before they (and we know who THEY are) restricted the video so the majority of players wont have these memories to view later

I know and so have I heard him on his Rosewood push-pull ('66?) and the short-head Legrande at the Chattanooga show. I was just curious...

He played the Rosewood PP
Check with John Floyd he has been doing sound and making a Audio of the sets.
You may have to wait until May and come down to the next Saluda Show. Then you won't miss anything.
Hey Bobby why don't you come over and play a set May 16
Frank it would sure be worth the trip out I-20 from Ala.
See Ya'll

Larry

Skip knows my policy,Very Well.

I don't sell or give away another mans work, I give him(The player) a copy of it and what he does with it is his business.

However all the recording was distorted from the Feb Show and I don't plan on Doing any Cd's This time for the players.

See you again in May.
[This message was edited by John Floyd on 01 March 2004 at 09:07 AM.]

That's a very ethical position to take John and I think your respect for the individual performers rights is comendable.

That Sounds Like you are talking out of the side of your mouth Skip. BEcause you wrote the following
WTB Mike Bagwells performance at Saluda
Since there are no legal copies, Then I have to assume you were looking for an illegal copy. Evidently you are lacking something in Ethics or have never woke up every day knowing you had to make a living playing music.
[This message was edited by John Floyd on 01 March 2004 at 02:45 PM.]

Y'all really wouldn't like it, anyway. One of the lead guitar players sounded like he was drunk, stupid, or all three Image

John, I'not sure what you meant by this reply
my comment about you was a complement, and we have not even discussed any legality here!
If taping of any performance is allowed (and it was) then any copy is NOT illegal even yours! the decision to make them available to others is yours alone and I respect your decision and right to do so. I knew better than ask you and that's why I asked the SGF members in hopes that someone may have gotten a good copy that they were willing to share. This video and audio repression of our medium is not helping the future of steel guitar one damn bit. Where would ANY musician , performer or artist be if we didnt have our peers to listen to as we were learning? I rest my case!!

You guys please stop. This kind of publicity only drives the price for this boot leg tape even higher.Soon it will be totally out of reach for the poor working man like myself. Image

I wish now I would have been nicer to Steve Gambrell. He too is becoming famous and most likely want give me the time of day much less a copy of this tape......bb

Mike Bagwell makes me sick, He plays so dang good and with all that, He is one of the nicest people you would want to meet.He takes a lot of it from his dad Jack.I Hope he puts out a C.D. soon. Talk about his guitars. He could play on a barbed wire fence and make it sound good.I had a chance to play some with Mike about five years ago up in Knoxville. I bought a new guitar, and he carried it for five blocks to my car . I had just had heart surgery.I will always remember that, and I have braging rights that Mike carried my guitar. Some steel players here in Atlanta said that when Mike got through playing Johnny Huewey Went up to him and told him that it was the best steel playin he had ever heard. mike Get busy with a C.D. You're right james and I want to add that Buying a bootleg or illegal copy (and when a copy exchanges hands for anything of value it is illegal) in no way helps the Artist , the instrument or the Songwriter.
