Tommy did a great job on the Opry last night playing steel for George Hamilton IV and adding dobro licks to Josh Turner's song "Long Black Train". I'm glad George Hamilton IV introduced Tommy White on the steel guitar! Way to go, Tommy! Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel |

Bill,
A very sincere thanks!
Brett,
Thank you. Hope you are doing great. George Hamilton is a very fine gentleman and always introduces the players.
Say hello to your folks for me.

Tommy, you sounded great on Long Back Train. Were you using the Match-Bro on that? |

Chris,
Thank you very much. Yes, I was using a Goodrich Matchbro and the (plastic bar?) that came with it I purchased many years ago when they were first introduced to the market. www.tommywhite.net [This message was edited by Tommy White on 09 February 2004 at 09:37 AM.] |

I thought I'd check in and see who was on the show, not having checked for Janice's usual update here on the music page. I was pleased enough with the line up to stay tuned.
Great job, Tommy. It was great to have G.H. IV introduce both Tommy and Hoot Hester... Tommy I know, but I needed help with Hoot, despite his name being on many a CD.
It was nice to see Joe Diffy again. He's another one that I've bought early CD's of and sort of lost interest. I really liked his new one, "Tougher Than Nails".
That one and Josh Turner's "Long Black Train" made the show for me.

Well done once again, Tommy....
I can vouch for George IV - I've done many hundreds of shows with him over the years, and he never fails to give full credit to the musicians, even, as on TV shows, when time is limited.
I happened to run into him a few weeks back, and asked him how he liked TW's playing - he rolled his eyes and said, 'He's awful good, isn't he?'; he went on to say that he still looks forward to playing with ME again, which only goes to prove what a gentleman he is .....

I too enjoyed Tommy's work on The Long Black Train. (As well as the work behind G.H.IV) The Matchbro sounded great! (The mix team needed to get it up a little more IMHO) |
