You are correct Bob, it was Jay Dee Maness.
I was just out visiting with Jay Dee in California back in October, and we had a discussion about the Dukes of Hazzard and how they did the background music. He said it was actually tough work because its not like playing a song, you might just do a lick or 2 with the other musicians and thats it, NO melody to go by at all. He did alot of soundtracks for movies and shows. He was also the featured steel player on alot of the Clint Eastwood films of the 70's and early 80's. Like "Bronco Billy", "Every which way but Loose", and "Any which way you can". He was also the steel player for years that you heard if you ever went the famous Palimino Club in LA, he played with the house band and backed up everybody you can name.

P.S. I would just like to say one more thing to Jay Dee and his beautiful wife Luaine you are 2 very special people to my wife Linda and I. We had a great time out there with you all, and THANKS for dinner at your house!!!!!!!.

Well this explains why Red hasn't beed around posting.
Sounds like a fine lil visit.
We get the Dukes Of Hazard here, dubbed in French. Very, VERY Odd!!!
So I have been meaning to ask this exact question!
I just saw Bronco Billy over here awhile back too and it has some fine steel work, I was noticing, too.
