(Tater) Jinks-correct name??

Post by Egil Skjelnes »

Hello
Once again I am trying the very knowledgeable people on the forum about a question.I got an old LP "The Covered Wagon Boys" from around Dadeville,Alabama. The steeler is only listed as (Tater) Jinks.I am not sure this is his full name? Know him?
Looks like an LP from the 60`s.
Drop a line if you can help.
Egil.

Tater AKA Jimmy Jenks is still in Dadeville ,Ala and is listed in phone book as Clarence. A fine musician and song writer of the 40s ,50s 60s Last I heard he was still playing occasionally with Peck Rowell who was bandleader of the Covered Wagon Boys...When I was a kid they had a band in Opelika,Ala which had Freddie Hart fronting with Curley Chalkker playing steel Jenks playing guitar and Roy Crawford playing fiddle, this was an Allstar band of this time which was mid 50s.Hope this helps some.
[This message was edited by Lynn Owsley on 03 November 2003 at 02:03 PM.]
