well folks, I just finished listening to rough mixes of TW's new project & I can assure you; the execution & tone are flawless, the choice of material is first rate & should appeal to all steel players.
The backup band, consisting of Bob Patan on keys, Kerry Marx & Jimmy Capps on guitars, Larry Paxton on bass & John Gardner on drums, gives an outstanding performance on each tune.Tommy's inventivness & delivery are, as expected, quite inspiring throughout.
The project consists of some surprising originals, some lovely ballads, shuffles & very listenable jazz flavored tunes.
I wont give away titles here, but I would keep my eye peeled for its release as I believe TW has raised the bar once again (no pun intended)
The overall mood reminds me a bit of E's black album, as TW displays his own well thought out appraoch to arrangements & originality.
I highly recommend this forthcoming CD to all Steel Guitar enthusiasts & musicians in general.
.....just thought you might want to know....

Another post mentioned that his Carter was set up at the studio as the reason he played his Sho-Bud on the Opry last week. Whether he used the Carter for the whole album, I don't know.

There's a breadth to Tommy's musicianship that sets him apart - this is a work that's long overdue! I can hardly wait - thanks for the 'heads up', Mike!

yes, he did play his new Carter on the sessions, along with a Webb amp w/a 15" & a stomp box delay. What a sound! Ricky,if you get a chance this weekend, try to take out a couple of his fingers with a handshake

Just dream and one day it may happen.

Ricky,
I think the word's out and I am really fine with that.
I really appreciate Mike's post and kind words.
The CD should be available by convention time.
My best to all,
T.W.

Gee Ricky, I thought it would be a good idea to hip everyone to Tommy's new project, but I guess I goofed.
Since my playing career has been over for several years,Im not on the inside at the Opry anymore like you are. So I guess my enthusiasm was innappropriate.
& it was a joke about breaking his fingers......
b0b,please close this thread in a hurry as I sure dont want to offend any other pros!
