Hello: I heard recently that Ray Price is no longer on the road. Does anyone know why? Is he sick, or doesn't want to work without Blondie? We must have a reliable source on the forum somewhere. Thank you!

Scott, go to the "Our Extended Family" section, and read the thread titled "Ray Price Health".

Scott
I'm sure Ray doesn't want to play with Blondie just yet, since Blondie died over a year ago.

According to Johnny Bush on Saturday, Ray is in the hospital with ticker problems, and I'm not referring to the stock market. Keep the old man in your prayers, though I haven't heard that things are critical at the moment.

I couldn't find the Ray Price Health topic in the most current lineup of threads.

Hey Guys, Ray is my all time favorite,,and I just bought tickets this morning to see him this saturday, July 27th, at Renfro Valley,, they didn't have a cancellation on him as of today. I read about the problem he had, a med reaction, a couple of weeks ago. Hope he is doing well.

Herb: I think Scott meant he didn't want to work without Blondie like Buck Owens didn't want to work without Don Rich when Don died.

I don't know if that story was every verified or true but I spent some time with them in the 60's and they were very close to say the least. I wouldn't have expected less from Buck. I'm sure Ray and Blondie had a similar relationship musically and salsa wise !!

Regards, Paul

Thanks for the replies guys! Don't worry about the Blondie thing, no offense taken. I am aware that Blondie has been gone for awhile, and I also know that he had been Ray's bandleader/friend for years. I thought that the shoes were too big to fill and Ray decided he had had enough. It's too bad about the health problems, as he's STILL one of my favorite singers. Let's hope that he gets thru this.

Good news folks, Ray is alive and kickin'!

Last weekend, the Kevin Fowler Band did a show at Schroeder Dancehall in Schroeder, TX. (Schroeder is about 16 mi. west of Victoria, TX.) Anyway, I noticed their calendar of events hangin' on the wall and low and behold, Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys and going to be doing a show there on August 24th (too bad I have a gig that night )

Check out the Schroeder Dancehall schedule at:

Keep on pickin'!

Last time I heard Pay Price he was still 10 times better than these new guys.

But Blondie took care of all the band stuff...Ray just had to sing. And the bond between them must have been very strong.

Bob.

Well,,,,
Ray was at Renfro Valley KY, July 27th, and man what a show,, he might be in, kinda bad health at age 76, but his singing was better than ever, he did a lot of his old tunes and the high and low notes were smack dab on key,
Danny Mohamad was on steel and did a great job. And after the second show was over, he sat down and signed autographs for a half hour,,,what a man,,,,,,,,,
Also got to catch the BarnDance show at Renfro Valley, and see my fried Greg Jones on Steel, he is the staff steeler there and also seen some of the work he does on re-storing steels, he is a double artist, steel man and steel teck. he can take a forty year old steel and make it look and play like new.
