Just saw an old album by Spade Cooley crediting "BILL STAFFORD" as the piano man. WAS THAT OUR BILL STAFFORD, the great steel guitarist from Mississippi? There can't possibly be more than one!?

I don't know if he plays piano, but Bill Stafford, the steeler, is alive and well on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!

Don't Think BS From Ms plays piano,at least I've never heard him play one in the past 35 years, But he sure can pick That U14 Excel. I don't know if he will make it to the Saluda SC Show this weekend, but you can Definitely catch him at the Dallas Show and convention. Bill has become more selective in the shows he plays these days and wants to really enjoy each one he works. He isn't getting any older, but he sure gets better every time I hear him and get to pick with him. He does the Saluda SC Show several times a year and the Texas show and St Louis .

JOHN: If he isn't getting any older I need to know how !! I'm getting so old I can't even do a half acre with my tiller any more. And saturday we played an extra show and I got so winded packing my stuff out to the car, they made me sit down and carried it out for me. You know I'm kidding you but the truth is; it's really true !!

Regards, Paul

Ray, I'm sure Bill would have mentioned a gig with Cooley, he seems to have leaned towards the Hogshead Bros.

What was the Spade Cooley release and who else was credited on the set?

Jason....The album is/was on ebay and it was the credits listed thereon that produced Bill Staffords' name on piano. I'm reasonably confident it IS NOT THE B.S. we all know and have come to love...but I tho't I'd jes' ask....

Greetings to all. Nope, that is not me.
Thanks for the nice comments Ray. I really enjoyed my stay there in Portland years ago and it was great to have met all the great players in that neck of the woods. See you in Dallas.
