Western Swing Fans?

On July 23rd I posted a question about some Western Swing songs recorded by Ann J. Morton in the mid 1970s. I didn't get any responses. Apparently none of the forumites have heard of her.
Perhaps Jason Odd has some information on her, and the steel player on her sessions?

Ann J. Morton
Born Apr 4, 1943 in Muldrow, OK
Album 'My Friends Call Me Annie' on the Prairie Dust label.
At a guess, I'd say this was from 1976.

Besides that, I dunno.... sorry Roger.

Roger....I noticed in Jasons reply that she was born in Oklahoma, and I have been around the western-swing scene all my life, but I am stumped...did she ever use another name? Gene

Hi Gene,

I am not aware that Ann used another name, although Morton is her married name. I think her husband was a session man in Nashville in the 70s, but don't recall what instrument he played.
The album that Jason mentioned may be the only record she released.

I think Sacramento steeler Jay Riley has recording by this gal, but I think he used her maiden name and her hubby's name, who is a player. If it's the gal I think it is, she's one hellava singer.

Not saying that I do Chas, but...I do read alot and try to stay informed thru various and sundry ways, just as you probably stay informed about Nashville. But as far as my statement above about Nashville musicians, it is true, there's is nothing I can do to change that... it sounds like western swing to me! P.S. I was just having a little fun with Steve, no harm intended.

...Chas, Jason is impressive, but I think he gets some help from "Dogpile"...go there and plug in with quotation marks "Ann J. Morton" and hit "fetch", and you'll get the following page...

Actually I used to use Alta-Vista and Dogpile, but the late (great) Bob Ferguson actually tipped me off about Google and generally I find it easier to use and it's quite good for research.

Another good resource is the All Music Guide, aka the AMG.
Every time i've posted a link to their main page here it seems to not work, the site lists albums and credits (when they have them), they do make mistakes, for example the confuse the steel player Ron Elliot with the guy who used to work with the band the Beau Brummels in the 1960s and 1970s.

In regards to Nashville Western Swing, let's not forget Paul Howard and Pee Wee King, the 'peak' of their creative careers were spent in Tenn.
