Does it have to be steel? My highest paying gig was a bass gig with Roger Wallace at a private party in Del Rio for the Bull Riding World Championships. $400 + hotel + expenses. I remember another wedding gig where that paid $200 to play guitar for both Roger and Justin Trevino (would have done that for free) I just wish I was better back then.

Although I've had several $500 -$600 NYE gigs, usually 3 or 4 hours, my best rate was a gig with the late Jimmy Davis for the Special Olympics. One 3 minute song (You Are My Sunshine) of course and was paid $50. Comes out to $1000 per hour. Sure could use some longer gigs at that rate.
thanks
