I was trying to go to the web site www.con-way.com and a security alert pops up saying IE is trying to access the internet through port 443. Why is this happening, anyone know?

erik,

Port 443 is the port for HTTPS:// or a SSL (secured socket layer). Basically you want to use this port because it has 128 bit encryption. I went to this site and they are a ecommerce site so they need to encrypt their data and connections. I assume you have a older browser installed and that is why you have that error. Are you using Internet Explorer? If so, go to the Help menu at the top and then scroll down to "About". You will need version 5 with at least service pack 2 installed. I recommend going up to Internet Explorere version 6 if possible. Do you have a DSL or Cable modem connection?
Also, what firewall are you using?

Let me know...
Mark

E-commerce??? I saw it on the back of a truck looking for drivers. I figured i'd get some more info about the jobs. Anyways, i have version 5 with no updates. I'm not going to worry about it now as my hard drive is on the way out. It's not worth the hassle. Thanks for the help.
