Free storage of mp3-files

Post by Martin Abend »

Unfortunately the provider of my website does not allow to store mp3-files for downloading. So is there a free service out there that does store mp3-files so anyone can download them? Like photopoint.com or so...

Hi Martin,
Try www.freedrive.com. They allow you 50 MB of free space. No charge. I have an account but haven't used it yet. Try it out, nothing to lose.

Take care,
Dick

Is this a storage-space issue, or just that they don't allow .mp3 files?

One way around it is to change the extension to something else (like .mus) and save them as such.

People will then have to download the files, then change the extension back to .mp3 in order to use them.

If you're not saving a tremendous number of these files, and if there won't be lots of traffic obtaining the files, you can probably get away with it.

But a large number of big files, with a subsequent increase in traffic could easily draw attention, and the files might be discovered.

Proceed with caution. Most sites implement this for some or all of these reasons:

1) storage requirements
2) bandwith requirements
3) copyright and legal complications
