Saw this amp in a local pawn shop, fitted with a G12 Celestion--no price tag.
Any comments--all welcome--on it as to its value or potential? |

MY OPTION!
the bandit 65 would not make a good steel guitar amp.But i have two of them with 12" JBL's in them i use for guitar and it is a good sound. |

My Bandit 65 has the original Peavey speaker, I've used it for steel when I have been in a fix, with an EQ pedal it was OK.

great little amps. They were the Hot rage to compete with the Deluxe reverbs for Telecaster players back in the 80's era.
The price was not mentioned and that is very important..I have seen excellent examples go for $200 and others as low as $100 or $125...
I did own one and I did use it for Steel at home and at practice sessions..I think it sounded excellent at low volume for the Steel.
But for the Tele , it cranked...
I'm talking the original Bandit 65's, Black Face, bigger knobs and Aluminum side panels...

I used to have one of them Bandits Tony was talking bout. It was a great little amp. Even the biggest tone snob I know said it sounded really good.
Get it, Peavey don't make em like they use to!

I played one for many years. Great Strat amp with a sweet sound. I didn't care for the distortion side and bought a Fender Hotrod Deluxe, also a fantastic amp.
I never would have let the Bandit go, but a fiddle player I was working with just had to have it. I couldn't say no.

I've had two over the years, great little amps. I still have one that is mainly used for rehearsals and standard guitar gigs.
Nobody has mentioned their durability. I bought one from a guy in California, used for about $125. When it arrived on my doorstep (via USPS parcel post) I was dumbstruck. The knucklehead (I'm being charitable here) who sent it merely attached a piece of cardboard to cover the front and one for the back of the amp, then wrote the address on the front. Well, except for some slightly dented corners, it is fine and never has had a problem. |
