I replaced the poor stock tubes in my Fender Pro Jr. with JJ/ Tesla and Electro Harmonix models and it greatly improved the sound. I am planning on changing the 2 preamp tubes to JJ 12AT7 for a smoother sound for my Fender Dual Pro and GeorgeBoard S8 as it worked out nicely on my Peavy Classic 30. I'd like to change out the Fender Special Design ( Eminence ? ) speaker for something suited a little better for non pedal steel output. Has anyone done this on their Pro Jr. ? There is a 4" space from the back of the magnet to the back of the speaker rim to accept a replacement without getting closer to the tubes. Thanks in advance for your suggestions .

I changed the speaker in my Pro Junior to an EV-12L and it greatly improved the output. So much so that it sounds fuller and much louder than a 15 watt amp.

There is also an upgrade for the reverb in this amp as the current reverb has a lot left to be desired. That is my next project.

I hope this helps

I replaced the stock speaker with a JBL D-120F and it doubled the volume of the amp. It had ample clean headroom for non-pedal steel.

An EV would not fit because of the front-to-back clearance.

On a Peavey Classic 30, I replaced the stock speaker with a JBL K-120 with same results.

It's like dropping a V8 into a Volkswagen.

Thanks for your responses guys , can you recommend any dealers who sell those speakers you recommended ?
Can the Peavey Classic 30 Blue Marvel 16 0hm speaker be replaced with an 8 ohm speaker as long as you don't use an added extension cabinet so the speaker load remains at 8ohms ?
Lenny, my Fender Pro Jr. doesn't have reverb ; it's the simple one volume/one tone knob and a ten inch speaker model. You must have the next one up

Kevin, Len and David were not talking about the Pro Junior but the Blues Junior, which has a 12" speaker.
Your Pro Junior has a smaller 10".
You'll need a big clean speaker that doesn't distort and keeps the bass tight.
I would go with a JBL D110 or similar.

Send Ted Weber an email, and he will sure help you. He's the boss of Weber VST which manufactures among the best guitar amp speakers made today.
(a Weber Cali or Michigan 10" would be great for your 8 string GeorgesBoard, but I'm not sur it would fit as they are rather big).

Ooops. I thought it had a 12".

I have used the JBL 10" speakers but found the tone to be too bright/brittle for my taste.

Ted Weber will have an appropriate speaker.

OR

Consider the Eminence Delta-Lite 2510 10" speaker (I have a new one).
