Anyone have any experience on hooking up the software for accompaniment to a laptop computer? What is the equipment needed between the computer and amplifier to make this happen?
Advise and thanks..

I have some experience with BIAB in a laptop. I am currently using an old laptop that was laying around doing nothing. An old Micron 166Mz. It actually works great and the sound is really very good just going out the head phone out in the back. Its one of those little jack plugs that you have to get an adaptor if you are going into a regular amp that uses the regular phone jacks. The biab program comes with a disc that has a software version of VSC synth sounds that you will want to use. It really has good sound. I am currently in the market for a new modern laptop with a USB port. There are external sound cards I hear are very superior. I don't know much about those but the folks at PC Music can be very helpful on that. Just go to www.pcmusic.com Hope that helps. |

Hope this helps.

Peter...You're right. That is the place. I was talking to Arnie there the other day. I updated my biab to version 12 through him. I believe he is the guy in charge. Gave me a heck of a deal on the Mega pak that all of the rhythum patches available. |

I installed BIAB v.12, with the VSC3, in a Sony Vaio laptop, and it worked great. In fact, I made a bunch of custom BIAB tracks for folks by request right on the spot at my product table at the TSGA Jamboree.
If you're looking at a laptop, I would recommend one with a CD-RW drive, definitely. You can take your tracks with you and play on any CD player. Also, floppy discs are going the way of the cassette tape, or so I've heard. Old technology.
