Instead of taking a rack unit onstage with me, I wondered if I could put a little delay circuit inside my Goodrich vol pedal - by taking the 'guts' out of a Boss DD3 maybe? Anyone tried this?
Thanks. |

The only problem is, when you back off your pedal, your sound thru will be cut off and not decay naturally. |

My advise is don't do it. Tony you have enough problems worrying about convering 240 to 120 then to a low voltage of DC. The problem with mixing different voltages and transformers is the problem of "not" having a central ground. If everything is not grounded to one point, then the ground is "floating". When the ground is "floating" this means 240 volts could come roaring down the guitar cord. Since the guitar cord connectes everything, it could become the path the current takes. This is a problem in Europe and England in particular. Just my opinion. |

Thanks guys. I was thinking about a passive pedal, and a battery-powered delay - Keeping away from any high voltages!!! Yes, Jeff, I guess the delay would have to go after the pedal to avoid losing the repeats.
Just thought that for us small-time players who don't want to use a rack unit or a multi-fx pedal, and who have a straight amp with reverb, a touch of delay would be all we need... |

I think it can certainly be done. My Boss (Dale Watson) has the guts to a tremelo pedal installed in his Guitar. If you have it in a passive pedal....and yes battery powered only way to go...wired to the output.....and maybe use one of the output jacks as a switch that cuts it on and off...it would work just like the way Dale has it in his guitar.
But finding room in that pedal to put the guts out of the way from all moving parts might be tuff.....but that would be a cool thing if you can rig it.

The delays cutting off wouldn`t be a problem if you had the delay circuit inside pedal, but wired after the potentiometer , true ?
