Hello,

What is a good cable to use when trying to eliminate noise or hum, are there any reliable "brand names" that y'all are using.

thanks

I use George L's. Along with being a good grade cable, they have a better frequency response than a lot of cables, even the super high priced cables (overpriced marketing hype cables).

The biggest thing to remember, if you're just trying to eliminate hum is to make sure you get good grade cable and that the plugs have metal shields (barrels) on the plugs. Do not use the plastic molded plug type cords as they do not provide shielding at the plug.

You can't go wrong with the George L cable. I think they are the best.
A couple of other things to consider is:
1. Try to avoid having electric supply cords running over, under or along side of your cables.
2. If you are using a processor, such as a Pro-fex II, set it up on the left end of you guitar away from the pick ups.
3. Don't have the volume controls on you amp wide open.

If you are using two amps, and or effects unit, and are having hum problems, you should buy a hum eliminator. Ebtech makes one for about $50.00. They work well and are worth the money to me.
