What are your 3 favorite songs

Maybe this was done before, but here goes: Pick your three favorite songs, any style, any order. No other rules. I'll start with mine; Claire De lune(Debussy), Harvest Moon(Neil Young), and Asia(Steely Dan). These change often, but Claire De lune is always up there.Anyone care to go next? JimP

Sonny, I don't know much about 2 of your songs, Glow Worm I've heard, I used to play some Mills Bros standards from a Mel Bay guitar book, songs like Dinah, Moonglow, and Till There Was You. I wish I still had that book! JimP

Number 1 for me has to be "Shadow of Your Smile" I probably have 10 or 12 various recordings of this on guitar and steel also. It can be interpreted so many different ways. Then there is also the vocal version by Stan Hitchcock with Chalker playing steel. Great.

Second is probably "Amazing Grace" This song can also be interpreted many different ways. I still get that little tingle everytime I hear it.

Third is also a Gospel song "Daystar" Perfect melody for steel and the words are powerful.

My favorite country song is GRAND TOUR, however, sung by Aaron Neville. I don't like the "theme" of divoice at all; but I do like how he describes their home . . . and YES, YES, YES - the TWANGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!

Bill, thanks for choosing Ashokan Farewell.
When the TV series about the American Civil War was first shown over here, that tune moved me to tears.
Later, there was a follow-up about songs from the Civil War.
Yellow Rose of Texas, Lorena and many others were performed beautifully by Hoyt Axton, John Hartford, Richie Havens and a host of contemporary artists.
Does anyone know if the soundtrack is available on CD?

Wow, that's a tall order. How 'bout my three favorite symphonys. Or my three favorite CD's, that might be possible

My favorite piece of music is easy. It's the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo. But, I don't think that music like that, as well as Beethoven, could even be loosely classified as a song.

If I keep it to basically country and steel there are still quite a few. Here's my best shot, and like others have said, it changes all the time.

1. San Antonio Rose - Bob Wills - 'cuz my Mom used to sing it to me.

2. The Distance Between You and Me - Dwight Yoakam

3. Walkin' After Midnight - Patsy Cline

Don! You and I have something else in common: MY favorite piece of classical music is also the Rodrigo Concerto de Aranjuez, especially the second movement. I think it's in my blood, since my family lived for centuries in Spain (until the Spanish Inquisition, that is...) Love that piece of music!

I played that movement in an Honors Recital when I was in school. Probably the most beautiful combination of notes ever written down, at least for guitar anyway.
