Terri Clark and Jenee Keener on The Opry

Post by Ron Page »

It was great to see Jenee--The Fiddlist-- with Terri Clark on The Opry tonight. GAC runs so many reruns that I was getting tired of watching them. It was a great show tonight. I happened to be finishing up a small job around the house and when Jenee hit her break in "Girls Lie Too" it suddenly occured to me, "I know her!"

Jenee's playing and background singing were great as always.

I was delighted to learn that Terri will be the newest Opry member on June 12th.

Isn't it great to see Jenee doing so well, folks? I hope we'll see her at Scotty's again someday, but it's great if she stays too busy to come real soon.

Ron, on my way to our gig this evening, I reached into the tape bin, pulled out Jenee's Fiddlist tape, one of my faves. Then, it was very neat to see her on the replay tonite, and yes, it was nice to see a NEW show for a change.

Wow! I remember Jenee when she played in St. Louis and was too young to drive, so her parents drove her up.

She also put a big cardboard sign in front of Doug Jernigan's Steel reading "Steel Players Can't Play Orange Blossom Special" while he was playing - guess what! Image

Kind Regards, Walter

I saw Terri and Jenee on the Opry too and I was really amazed by Jenee's fiddle playing and backup singing. Jenee is an amazing fiddle player who plays from the heart. Jenee, you did a wonderful job last night on the Opry! Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel

Jenee' Keener is unreal. Truly unreal. To paraphrase the late and great Phil Baugh (referencing Thumbs Carlisle)

"NO body can do that, NOT even YOU (Jenee')!"

I have seen her sit quietly time and time again in the background;, as though she was not even there; only to have someone point to her to take the break; and then she performs flawlessly on tunes she could NOT possibly have heard or learned.

Yes, 70 yr old fiddle tunes by the score she plays on the spot and on demand. As though she had played them for 70 yrs!

And this goes for every song she plays. One of THE most incredible musicians I have EVER seen in my life is Jenee' Keener. This forum has been blessed with her posts (when she had the time in her very busy life to post them).

And the thing that just blew me away was when she told us how she just knows the key of any song played the moment she hears it. She said, "I just thought everyone could do that". I am sure this goes for the chord structure and melody and everything else.

Our Precious Savior gave her a blessing many musicians would die for. May he nurture her awesome talents all the days of her life; and may she always thank him for it. I am sure she does.

And may he richly bless all of you,

carl

I just happen to be listening to Terri right now. What a great singer. Glad to see her inducted into the HOF. As far as Jenee, unfortunately I am not that familiar with her. My only exposure has been on TV with Terri. What I have seen convinces me that she is a world class artist. My congratulations go out to both on their sucessful careers.

Dang it! I was on the Opry Saturday nite with Gretchen Wilson. Terri was on just after us and I thought I knew that chick fiddler but just couldn't place her. It's been a few years since I'd seen her in St. Louis and I just didn't recognize her. She was great!

Jenee,

You need to go with a hyphenated last name-- Jenee Keener-Fleenor. Image

I forgot to compliment you on your camera presence. Way to go. You made great eye contact with the TV audience. Tell the boss to quit ducking under that big hat and show her pretty eyes like that too.

"Keener-Fleenor" - Priceless. Now if your first name was "Jeener"... Image

Exceptional player, for sure!

We don't get GAC here, so sadly I didn't see the Opry.

Paging Ron Page...and others. Terri Clark, Jeneé and band will be on the Academy of Country Music Award show tonight, 7 PM CST. I understand they should be on around the 3rd or 4th commercial, probably within the first hour. Let us all watch "JKF", Jeneé Keener Fleenor. (Did you ever see so many E's?) AAAAEEEEeee! Image

Also, a surprise for most of us, will be an award, not a performance, for a great or the greatest male vocalist of our times.

Thanks, Milton. I hope to have time to watch at least the early part of the show to catch Terri. I haven't been listening to country radio or watching the awards shows in recent years. I'll have to make an exception in this case.
