Has anyone else heard THE WORD, the new release by Robert Randolph, John Medeski, and the North Mississippi Allstars? My favorite songs so far are "Without God", "Waiting on my Wings" and "Call Him by His Name". This is the largest and most recent example of R.R.'s work so far, until his own effort comes out sometime in the fall. If you want to know "why the buzz", and hear some great songs (and some great B3 and electric slide guitar work too) -go get it. Also, the electric washboard thru a wah pedal on "Waiting on my Wings" just slays me.

Geoff, Buddy you are in luck. They are all playing in SYRACUSE tomorrow night, Sat. the 4th. The Word tour is on now, and limited to dates on the eastern seaboard. For more details, go to http://www.robertrandolph.net
I wish I could drive for 20 minutes and go see them.

Well, I wish I was still living upstate, cuz I'd drive over to Syracuse and check that out. Looks like they'll be in Nashville in the fall, so I guess I'll have to wait till then. They'll be on Conan O'Brien Tues. nite, so I'll be sure to check that out.I tracked down a copy of the CD, and it is fantastic. I also bought a copy of John Hammond's Wicked Grin, with songs by Tom Waits and man, that's another great record. With the price of CDs these days, it's nice to buy something and feel that you got your money's worth
