Good lineup

Bill Anderson (Donna Hammitt)
will host
Tracy Byrd
Steve Wariner

Does anyone know who plays steel behind Tracy
these days?

I saw Tracy Byrd in concert once, and the best thing he did was a Bill Anderson tune called "You Lied To Me". I actually bought the CD for that one song. Great tune!

I managed to see Tracy 4 times during 1996 and 97 including the taping of the Asleep at the Wheel album in Vegas.

Saw Tracy Byrd on a cruise (country theme) last January. Great show.

And Steve can sing for me anytime, too.

Seems that everytime Steve Wariner plays a guitar solo he feels compelled to "scat" along with his guitar playing.

My ignorance shows again. What do you mean by "scat".

I know (or think I know) who "Scat Man Cruthers" is, but don't know what "to scat" means.

Well, Steve didn't play a guitar solo so, no scatting. Donna's steel playing was the only good thing about that 30 min of TV.

The Happygoodman's are blowin' the roof off the Ryman. Vestal should give some of these so called singers some lessons.

I liked this show.

There have been noticable improvements in the production. The director gets the correct instruments on camera (most of the time) and the sound mix is way better than a few months ago. There was steel in every song.

I only wish they return to the Ryman permanently and have a full hour of perfomance televised.

What was with that Tracy Byrd tune glorifying Van Halen and the Rolling Stones? Did I hear that right? "I like Van Halen and George Jones..."? It was like a bad dream. Image

I got up to make popcorn during Tracy birds attempt at entertaining me Image..And came back in time to steve wariner who does fit the songs he sings...Wisperin Bill does sound better with the mike turned down, Image actually it would be better if they shut it off. Image but what a great band the man has and he does write and can sell a country song when he is on stage.Great night of good Steel guitar.

Connie Smith wasn't on the TV portion, but I was backstage Saturday night when Connie did the 7:00 and 10:00 spots. She introduced the band, and sang a song that Johnny asked her to do "You got me right where you want me". It was so neat. Saturday was Johnny's birthday, so that made it even better. When she introduced the band, she told everyone that it was Johnny's birthday, and she was singing that song for him. Wow..it was so neat..I had goosebumps man..Connie and the band sounded so good. I'm bragging again on my husband, but he deserves it. It was a great evening at the Opry.
