Does anyone else remember "Backin' to Birmingham" ?

Love trucking songs. "Coming out of Detroit" or was it Pitsburgh. Loved Dave Dudley singing about "soot as black as coal"
No steel guitars but wonderful guitar work.

It was Six Days on the Road that you're thinking of, Garry.

A very different, but very good cover of that tune was done by The Flying Burrito Bros. with Al Perkins on some excellent rockin' steel.

Some around the San Francisco Bay area might remember Truitt Cunninham's (sp) The Truck That Peter Built...I believe it was written by Liz Anderson (Lynn's mom) Don Sherwood used to play it on his show.

I heard a little of what may be the strangest Truck Drivin' song ever recorded. Weird Al Yankovic's moving rendition of "Drivin My Truck With My High Heels On" about a crossdressing trucker.
Of course it was being played as a joke by a local country 'morning drive time' jock. But I gotta admit, it was funny. It even had some dern HOT steel pickin. But I don't think it quite lives up to the standards set by Red Sovine, Dave Duddley and Del Reeves.
BTW, my fav has got to be Mama Hated Diesels, and a close second Lookin' At The World Through A Windshield. (I know, I know, Commander Cody stuff dates me, but what can I say, I'm a product of my G-G-Generation.

Still doesn't ring any bells. But I definitely remember the song. I just can't remember the tune nor the words. I guess that means I'm finally getting old.

I guess I'll have to go find an album somewhere that has it on there.

Actually, "Willin'" was written by Lowell George and originally performed by Little Feat. Ronstadt, the Byrds, and just about everyone else under the sun recorded it, but the absolutely best version is still George's, with Little Feat, on the live album "Waiting for Columbus". Clearlyone fo the great truck driving songs around.
