I am eternally greatful to Bengt Erlandsen for having posted this thread in which he tabbed out the various places to find the major scale and Diatonic Chords for the c6th tuning. His approach allowed me to utilize my previous music theory knowledge and simply apply it to the fretboard in a logical manner. But due to the fact that I play a universal, I had to transpose everything, change the string count, and figure out equivalence of the pedals on my guitar to his tab.

So I decided to transpose the parts I have been using to the standard Newman Universal copedant. With the exception of the scale patterns, it is simply a translation of Bengt's "c6 quick-start guide" thread.

The original thread includes much more tab that I have not translated, and the elements were organized in a different manner. I have taken the liberty to present the material in a different order based on my personal preference.

(Again, and just to be clear: this is not MY tab, just my translation of Bengt's tab for a universal set up. If anyone spots any errors let me know!)

(Depending on where your pedals are, using B and 6 pedal may be
hard or impossible. Good news is RKR -or the change that
lowers 4 and 8 for b6th "mode"- does not need to be engaged for
this pedal combination to work. That means both feet can be
used freely to press both pedals at the same time.)

* These notes use c6th pedal 4 and are not possible on a
standard Newman Universal.

==================================================================

Here's an alternative option based on the A+B pedals that
works for the universal:

st5 E F G A B C D E third
st6 C D E F G A B C root
st9 E F G A B C D E third

1 -------------------------------------------------------
2 -------------------------------------------------------
3 -------------------------------------------------------

6 --3(b---6--8--8(b--10(b--13--15--16(b------------------
7 -------------------------------------------------------
8 -------------------------------------------------------
9 --3(a---6--8--8(a--10(a--13--15--17(a------------------
10 -------------------------------------------------------
11 -------------------------------------------------------
12 -------------------------------------------------------

(This is just one of many options. E9th is full of these
types of harmonized scales. I just put it in there because
it fills out the charts provided by Bengt.)

==================================================================

Minor 7th chords derived from C Diatonic scale:

==================================================================

Dominant 7th chords with C diatonic scale roots:

10 ----1-------4------6-------9------11-----------------
11 -----------------------------------------------------
12 -----------------------------------------------------

(These CHORDS are not part of the KEY of C, but the ROOTS are.)

==================================================================

C major scale patterns:

(These are derived from what Bengt posted on his original thread,
but have been expanded up and down to include all the extra
universal strings. Pedals may be substituted in many places to
allow for quicker movement through the scale.)
