I have to say; this was an honor to work directly with Lloyd Green on this one; as you can see from the tab that none of us was even close..ha....>To me; after learning the exact way Lloyd played it....>it just has to be played with the same well thought out string combination/textures and emotion to the melody that only Lloyd Green does so well...>WOW.

Thanks everyone....We did make a few adjustments here and there...>couple of typos on my part..ha....and wasn't hearing a 1/8 note here and one there..ha....>but it is all finalized now(that's what I get for not listening closely enough and doing it to fast..ha)....and Lloyd and I certainly had a Great time bringing this amazingly beautiful emotional solo> to Paper(so to speak..).

Thanks a million Lloyd and Ricky.I made a mistake and assumed it was Paul Franklin doing this solo.Nine times out of ten it usually is.Yes,I guess I didn't give the standard Nashville tuning enough credit.My ears got a little carried away with me when I first heard it,and they were thinking that there was more going on than what there was!Hats off to "you" Lloyd!You have played it from the heart and in the standard tuning,proving that you don't need different string copedants to make the beautiful solo's come to life on the steel guitar.It's an instrument that is truly played from the heart!Thanks Again!

Hey Now that I actually have the Real CD of this song...by golly you may be right...I hear a high E note in there...ha..>funny how a MP3 sample playing through a computer media player....will not submit things that are otherwise heard plain as day...ah..ha.

This thread saved my hide Friday night. I was called to sub for the steeler at Wild Bill's which is a new club in Atlanta and apparently is the largest club in the nation now. Anyway, about 10 minutes before the second set, I was handed the set list which included "Remember When." I knew this wasn't one that I could just fake my way thru. So, I went to the office and jumped on the net. I came here and printed off the tab above and ran to the stage to run through it real quick. Bottom line.....it went off without a hitch! The guys couldn't believe that I'd never played this song before. Thanks Ricky & Lloyd for posting this. It bailed me out of a tight spot!

My "Remember When" story doesn't have such a good ending...! A couple of weeks back I played with a guy at the Rusty Rooster in Atlanta, and was lucky enough to have him send me a songlist ahead of time. R.W. was on there, so I had time to sit down and shed on the solo (something I rarely do, but working on this one's pretty obvious!). It took me a little bit, and I was tickled when I saw Ricky and Lloyd's post at how close I'd come. When I got to the gig, the singer asked if I knew the solo as he loved the song. I played him what I'd worked out and he got all excited about how he couldn't wait to hear it with the full band, how they'd worked on it in reheasal, etc. Sure enough, when the song came around, the bass player trainwrecked the modulation into the solo, and (taa-dah), the guitar played launched into a big rock solo and walked all over me. On the break, his comment was, "Well I don't like that slow stuff, there's not enough going on"...

Well the good news is, that was just a sit-in shot. My regular bands are loaded up with great players, sensitive folks who play for the song and listen to each other. Generally my stage experiences are very positive- there's really no joy like sitting in the middle of a pile o' great musicianship!

I've loved this tune since I heard it last year in St. Louis - it just knocks me out every time I hear it. I've interupted people, told them to be quiet and listen closely when it comes on the jukebox or radio, and I stopped the car the first few times I heard the Alan Jackson cut.

I've not tried to play it, because I didn't see myself being able to comprehend how it might be played properly - plus the outfits I work with don't normally play this sort of tune anyways.

I was looking for something else entirely and stumbled across this post. I can not tell y'all how grateful I am that you took the time to work this out and make it available.
