I don't have this Dixie Chick CD, so I worked from a sound clip and the sound was minumal; so hearing a two or three string combo was tuff; but this should get you by nicely. Have fun.

Thanks Ricky. I've always liked that type of intro into a solo, but never knew exactly how to approach it (relative newbie here). I'm sure it's a "standard" kind of opening most experienced players can play automagically while they're really concentrating on what to play afterwards.
Anyway, at the risk of my teacher seeing this, I'd like to ask you... How do you approach picking the intro, given that you have to block the heck out of each note? I tried T/I/M rolls, that didn't work 'cause I couldn't block it clean enough fast enough. Then I tried alternating T/M and that worked better from a blocking standpoint, but with the quick thumb cross-overs, speed would be a concern for me. I'm sure it's just a "practice makes perfect" thing, and I'd like to practice it in the more accepted approach from a picking/blocking standpoint.
Thanks in advance! -Dave

Hey Dave when I pick that triplet pass I play T I I or if your better with middle finger use it. I find it easier to when I move up the strings and it's not too fast; to start with Thumb than move up the strings with finger and as your finger goes back down to each string to pick; the hand mutes the last note picked>make since. And when going down strings I start with finger and move down with thumb. If it's real fast I will cross.
Hope that helps some pal. Let me know if you need further insight on pickin' those triplets; I have a couple of other ways I do it, especially if it's real fast and the notes are the same but I only use two strings.
Have fun.
