Hi guys I wanted to share with you all this video of mine where you will hear the sound I got with my PSG WBS Custom after a few years of research between amplification, pick up, and speaker. I have been following this magnificent forum since 2016 and I owe a big thank you to Paul Franklin who I have been following since 1990 and I owe him if today I play the steel because I fell in love with this instrument magnificent,from the first day I heard that magical sound in 1990 in the famous album by The Notthing Hilbillies. Paul here on the forum has released over the years many tips on its amplification and much more about it. But I also have to thank all of you for the many posts where you talk about amplification, pick up, speaker and much more. Thanks to all of you if I have managed to get a great sound with my two WBS Custom steel that you will see in the various videos that are on my channel You Tube. I also use this amplification in my many live shows with big Dire Straits tribute bands and I must say that I am immensely satisfied with the sound that I get even in live shows. I hope you like it. PS: I've been playing steel solo since 2017, I'm proud of the progress I've made after so many hours of studying every day.

Thanks Tucker for leaving a message and above all that you appreciated my way of playing, only in 2017 I decided to buy my first steel that you see in the photo and from there I started to study alone at home watching all the videos of Paul that are on YouTube where he plays live with Dire Straits in 1991/2, from there it all started, but I follow Paul Franklin since 1990 and thanks to him if I approached this splendid and fascinating instrument. Little by little I will always learn new things. Good music Francesco from Italy

Yes Yes I am the one who created that beautiful file of Walk Of Life where Paul plays 12 different versions of the incredible solos, I have learned 4 different from each other, I am always perfecting them for my live shows and I am very happy that I can do 4 different ones, on my channel if you look there is the video in question of Paul playing 12 different solos of Walk of Life, you will also see a video where I play the classic historical solo but a little changed to my personal taste, in that solo I had just started studying it for a week, today I play 4 different from each other, when I can I will publish one of these 4 on my channel. Hi Quentin thank you so much for leaving your comment and that you appreciate my way of playing. Yes if you will do it to your PSG it will be fantastic as I look, I liked that Franklin steel so much since 1993 that I had the first live VHS of Dire Straits. Good music Francesco

Hi Kerry thank you so much for your nice message for me, Paul for me is my point of reference since the first day I heard that fantastic sound of PSG in 1990 on the Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins album, and then heard it again on the Dire Straits On Every Street album in 1991, from that moment I fell in love with that sound and that strange and unique instrument that I didn't know and never heard of here in Italy. Today I find myself playing it and for me it always remained a great dream, I study many hours a day since 2017 that I started playing it, in Italy there are no teachers so I learned by myself, but with great help from some great Italian Steelere of long fame that I had at my departure from this great challenge. I hope that Paul can see this post and my video, it would be nice to receive his opinion that for me would be precious. Good music Francesco

Yes I use this 3M Dual Loock Velcro in black, it is very powerful and sticks perfectly, you put a piece on the steel which remains fixed and a piece on the USB cable input head that comes from the power strip and you attach it to the steel, then you simply insert the bayonet lamp into the stable USB that you have blocked with the Velcro to the steel.

Let me ask this in a different way...

I see that the base end of the gooseneck light has a Male USB A.

My question is not about the Velcro attachment to the steel, but the power supply and Female USB A socket used to provide power to the light.

I see that this female socket is then attached to the steel with Velcro and supports the gooseneck light.

Again, I'm asking about how you made the power supply/cord and Female USB A socket to plug in the USB light.

Hi Bill, ok I understand, it's very simple I connect the light to a simple power supply to charge your smartphone, but instead of using the phone cable you need to have a male/female USB cable that goes to the mobile phone power supply and the female goes blocked to the steel with 3m dual loock velcro, the gooseneck lamp has the male USB that will go to insert into the female blocked in the steel, I hope it will be of great help to you. Hi Rich, yes I use the Effectrode Blackbird as a preamp in combination with my Dv Marl Little GH250 head, in the video you see in the link I put here in my post I'm using my Dv Mark+ Black Box Sarno head, in the video of the Brother in Arms solo I'm using the Dv Mark+ Blackbird, in my Dire Straits live with the band I always use the Dv Mark+ Backbird, in the Vince Gill and Sting video in that solo I always use my Dv Mark+ Blackbird head, in the Romeo & Juliet solo video I use the Dv Mark+ Black box Sarno head, for my ears that I hear it first hand with these two types of combinations I have a spatial sound, through video it's not the same as what my ears hear, but more or less it gives you a bit of an idea.
