Lately I have been seeing red circles next to folders in File Explorer and a message to upgrade. I am a paid MS 365 subscriber. Windows 11 all updates are current. What is going on here?

It looks to me like you've used up all your default storage space (5 Gb). According to the Microsoft 365 website , you should have access to 1 Tb. I'd suggest you contact Microsoft to see what the difference is between what it thinks you have available and what you should have available.

Default storage in what? Is that for One Drive? I don't use One Drive.

OK. Looks like it is related to One Drive. Since I don't intentionally use it, I am going to uninstall it (per the Microsoft website). I do notice sometimes when saving something (especially in MS Office apps), it will ask if I want to save it to One Drive, but I always choose the actual folder on my hard drive that I want it to save it in. I already moved all folders and files that I found in One Drive to an external drive (just in case).

It says these items are in cloud storage.

After disabling One Drive, the problem is gone. It was just a little nerve wracking to see all the red error indications when I didn't know why.

This can be closed.
