Dan Kalisher - Steel Player Affected by LA Fires

Post by Thomas de Bourbon »

Hey all, wanted to make a post about a fellow Los Angeles steel player, Dan Kalisher, who just lost his home and studio in the Eaton Fire in Altadena CA. Dan, his wife, and their 3-year-old daughter are currently staying in San Diego as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives.

The fire took nearly everything—his home, recording studio, gear, guitars, amps, family possessions - leaving behind only a few guitars and some family heirlooms. Dan’s Sierra steel, electrosteel, and so much more equipment went up in flames.

So far people have stepped up in incredibly generous ways: Kevin from Goodrich is gifting Dan an Emmons, and Ross from Sierra is building him a new steel. These acts of kindness are incredible but only scratch the surface of what the Kalishers need.

Dan says the best way to help right now is by donating to their GoFundMe:

Dan is a newer friend to me but is nothing but the nicest guy in the world. I went over to his place just about a month ago to hang in his studio check out the electrosteel. He works full time as a steel player/producer, his beautiful playing can be heard with Noah Cyrus, Grace Potter, Sabrina Carpenter, on American Idol, and with so many more.

If you have any means to help out Dan and his family, it would go a long way.

Very sorry to hear. Do you have anything recorded from Dan, I'd sure like to hear his playing, I'll type is name on youtube as well.
I remember ole Tommy Morrell lost his possessions and instruments in a house fire some years ago.
