Has anyone ever transcribed Joaquin's "I Can't Give You..."?

Has anyone ever transcribed Joaquin's "I Can't Give You..."?

Post by Jim Fogarty »

Been obsessing over this stunning JM version of "I Can't Give You Anything But Love", with Spade Cooley's band.

Wondering if anyone has.....or has come across....a transcription? I'm fooling around with C6 (high G), and it's mostly doable, but not exact.

Thanks!

There was a transcription by the late John McGann posted on his (now defunct) website twenty years ago. I don't think that this song is part of the Classic Western Swing Steel Guitar Solos book, but I'd have to check.

I have learned a few phrases from this recording. It lays out nicely with the re-entrant version of C6 that Joaquin used at least some of the time. He puts it to good use on this tune.

Top to bottom: G E C* A G E C# (B*)
The 8th string is pitched a 1/2 step below the 3rd string.

John did transcribe that song. It's not part of our book. I'll see if I can find it on an old hard drive.

Andy.....I, and I'm sure many others, would be in your debt.

Thank you for looking.
