It's Tyler Hall showing the world what you do when you show up to the gig, the B pedal on your E9th neck is mysteriously not working, and there's no time to fix it before the downbeat.

It's not a scenario for the faint of heart.

Gary, I fight the voices in my head or I probably would play that way all the time. LOL. I’d been complaining about not getting to play enough 6th lately, well I’m caught up after Tuesday night.

I can’t seem to play AJ’s without my guitar or amp deciding to do something new and exciting but a few seconds into the video is when suddenly I notice my 6th raise wasn’t raising and seemed to have been hung in the raise position. We were counting off the first song, so I didn’t have time to find my issue and I knew I didn’t have tools on me (rookie move).

Thanks yall. For years I kept the G on top of my C neck and my “get around” was a lever that lowered 2&6 whole tones, to D. The C6 setup on my Mullen was pretty out there from standard and it really had a ton of E9 sounds in it. These days I’m playing basically standard Emmons on both necks. Only trick on the guitar in the video is it’s got 4 levers for the C neck and it’s basically all standard stuff except I raise 10 and lower 5 whole tones.

Once upon a time I worked for a swing player who loathed seeing me on the front neck, to the point of openly scolding me onstage. I was young, cocky and bulletproof back then. Within two weeks there wasn’t a Pete Drake lick I knew that I couldn’t play on C6. That guy hated me. 😂

I used to play Look At Us and Farewell Party soloes back there just because I could. I spent SO much more time with my instrument back then.

Tyler, thanks for the info. I watched you play from the early Branson days to this year with Josh Turner in Lemay Missouri back in April. I was always fascinated by your skill on the C6 and I figured Terry Bethel may have had some influence on your style. Terry was such a monster C6 player and a good friend. I think I enjoyed the AJ gig you did more than any I've watched, mostly because of your skill and tone. Keep up the great work. It's always a pleasure to see you in action.
