Just a quick shout out to Ricky Davis! Last night, I had the opportunity to finally meet Ricky as he was with Weldon Henson for the annual gala in the Old West town of Ft Griffin, Texas. I want to thank Ricky for all of his contributions to the steel guitar via the Forum! Ricky, you guys sounded great! Sorry I had to bug out early! See you down the road. Randall

Not only a phenomenal steel guitarist but a great person. I had an LDG that I needed to add some changes to , rods ,brackets etc. He was able to assist me over the phone so I could set it up correctly. He made it so easy and did it all while he was on his way to a job with Weldon.
I really miss the “Ricky and Rebel” website where there were a lot of songs tabed out.

Thank you Rick and Joe> I'm blushing here....
I'm very grateful I get to pass on everything I learned and inspired from my Mentor's; unfortunately most have passed away(except Lloyd Green; he's still kickin' and like a Dad to me> bless his heart). I have always loved passing on what I can in every way; as I constantly see the smiles on all my Mentor's faces.

Great stuff Joe Bill; my pleasure my brother.I have learned more from Ricky Davis postings the last 4 months than 100 or so books that I would never buy. Thanks Ricky for sharing info which helps this 68 year old newbie!
...and my pleasure to you too Gary Hoetker and it was one of my Mentors Leonard Stadler(RIP) that created the Marlen; that taught me all about Marlen's and Speedy West Marlen and I just pass it on bro.Ricky helped me too especially with the tuning of the Pull Release Changer

Just don't ever go to his house for a lesson to learn hot licks. He'll just tell you your right hand is all wrong and your posture sucks... Except in a nice way.
Still one of the best learning experiences I've ever had. Thanks again Ricky!

I had the pleasure of meeting and playing with Ricky once at the South Texas Steel Guitar Club meeting/jam. Ricky came with Ms. Leslie, vocalist and fiddle player. I doubt if Ricky remembers this day, but I enjoyed the day. I played rhythm guitar mostly and let Ricky and Ms. Leslie solo. I don't recall the date, but it was at least 10 years ago.

Yes Bill T, and so glad you were receptive to my criticism, in my very blunt coaching kind of way; you turned out to be a solid picker, non-stop progression and learning, so proud of you.Still one of the best learning experiences I've ever had. Thanks again Ricky!
Jim I kind of remember that but it was certainly more than 12 years ago cuz that was when me and Leslie divorced and I moved back to my hometown in Austin.I had the pleasure of meeting and playing with Ricky once at the South Texas Steel Guitar Club meeting/jam. Memories are welcome, even though my brain injury just laughs at most of them haha LOL.

I don't swing by here much these days, but Ricky has been around here since it was an AOL chat forum (if I remember).
Glad to see him still contributing...that's what he does.
We had some great times during the Three-T's, festivals, and crossing paths playing with all the Texas artists we've played with.
Hope you are doing well Ricky!

Just heard Ricky playing with Dale Watson in his early days, I have heard this video before many times. Man did he make that “Sho~Bud sound fantastic. His C6 playing was a true work of art . Ricky’s playing along with his presence on the Forum will be etched in the books along with the greats…
