Austin Steel Oct 3, 4
I’m in Austin now visiting my daughter and wanted to see if anyone was playing at night. My schedule is tight and The ACL fest is going on so I haven’t seen much of anything interesting at the clubs. Any tips would be appreciated.
Regards, Craig

Steel this weekend
I would recommend Chaparral at the Broken Spoke tonight, 9-12. Jeff Hughes is one of Austin's best songwriters and Bob Hoffnar is typically on the gig.

Thanks Geoff, we are leaving Saturday evening back home sadly, sounds like a great show at the Backbone with Robison, he’s great. My son was there last winter and lived the place.
Shaan sorry for the misspelling, darn autocorrect, the Spoke was great last night, Bob was kick in’, had a chance to talk with him, hadn’t seen him since he left NY for Texas, was a good move. Austin is very different from when I was here 20 years ago, but there are still some remnants of the past hanging on which is good.
I will try and make the Rob Ickes show possibility, was also thinking of going to the White Horse to see Aaron McDonnell.
Thanks again for all the recommendations, much appreciated!

Larry,
I’m playing through a new milkman mini JG model with an extra cab. 2 x 12” speakers total. Both JBL D120s. I also send a pre amp output signal to a QSC powered monitor to the other side of the stage because the band has a very loud stage volume. It’s a great rig. Sounds fantastic with my new emmons.
I’m there every Thursday so I can tweak things over time and get it just right.
