Shot Jackson
Today is the birthday of another steel player I wish I could've met, Shot Jackson. To pay tribute to Shot, I played a few songs on my Jackson steel this evening. I wish I could've seen the Sho-Bud Steel Guitar Company too. I'm glad to be friends with Shot's two sons, Harry and David, and his granddaugter, Dawn Jackson, who work with the Jackson Steel Guitar Company. Shot Jackson is actually one of the reasons I decided to play a Jackson Steel, along with the fact that I love the Sho-Bud steel.

Brett, here is my old photo I took of the Sho~Bud store in Nashville many years ago.
Following that is a more recent picture of David & Harry Jackson with Dawn Jackson and their Jackson Steel Guitar with a Jackson Steel customer from Canada.

I was fortunate to get to meet Shot many years ago. I had ordered my Pro II in 1973 and was talking to him by phone when he offered to get my family tickets to the Opry if we could make the trip. We did get to go in the summer of 1974 and we visited the store. This picture was taken upstairs. It was then I saw the Big E keyless prototype. The same day, my Dad bought a fiddle for my brother from David Jackson!
This picture was taken at Del City Music (OK) sometime around 1970 or so. Owner Bob Wood is holding the bass, and the late Doug Campbell is getting a lesson from Shot. This was taken before I met Shot and a few years before I took lessons from Doug.

Best lyric in a country song: "...One more, Moon..."
