I could not find anything commercially available that I liked. I am still trying different bars, and switching between 6 string and 8 string instruments. I wanted something that kept them in one location . . . easy to exchange . . .and not have them rolling around on my table.

I searched online for: "Electronic Project Boxes"- and found this one for $8.98 on Amazon. 5.9" long x 3.2" wide x 2.4" tall- a two piece box. Brand is RilexAwhile-
I really liked the low profile of the clear TOP piece- and attached 4 rubber feet to the bottom. Lastly- added 4 notches with a file to keep the bars distanced from each other.

A repurposed California Job Case! Memory Lane from the old high school print shop, when computers were the size of a gymnasium, ran on punched cards and vacuum tubes, and were down most of the time.
I only have a couple of bars, both very similar (latch lake and a Dunlap 918 or 920), so I don't have this need. But.... What about a lipstick holder? There's a whole variety over on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=lipstick+holders

I carry my bar and picks in a zippered Hohner Rocket harmonica case.
I bought the 2nd one pictured. Should be here tomorrow. There was no specific dimension listed for the size of the openings. They have an AI thing (Rufus, but should be Dufus) you can ask questions of.
So I asked if the openings would accommodate a 1" diameter tube.
Answer:
The openings are .866 square, so it looks like it will accept your 1" diameter tube!

When I went to school, 1.000 was larger than .866.
I figure I only have one, 1" bar, so I still bought it. I might have to sand four flats on the bar and make sure I hold it just right when I play......

This was whittled out of a small piece of mahogany put this up not to show off but to see if my camera adjustment reducing skills work lo and behold there might be a glimmer of hope for me yet as it is working...
I was at a festival last weekend and ran into another steel player. We were discussing the stresses of transporting bars and picks, which often rattle around our cases. So I gave him one of my old Hohner Rocket harmonica cases, which nicely fits a Dunlop 919, thumb pick and two finger picks without smashing them.
For anyone interested, you can get just a case (Hohner zip pouch) at Rockin' Rons (https://rockinronsmusic.com/search?type ... +zip+pouch) for $6/car, or cheaper when you buy in bulk. They are slightly padded and the zipper works nicely.
(Although now that I think of it, I have a few of these that I'd give away, so long as sometime else pays shipping. Message me if interested)

That's a good tip, Lloyd, I definitely need some sort of proper case for my bar and picks. I never thought to ask my harp playing buddy about cases.
